deseperately need some advice! (titanium rods for dentures?)

Hi everyone, I hope everyone here has been doing well...

I have a question I desperately need answered...Does anyone here have Titanium rods to hold their dentures?

i am considering getting them and I just wanted to ask how your surgery's went...I am absolutely terrified something may go wrong by doing this , But got a liner put on yesterday and was told I'll never have the 'suction' I need to hold my dentures because my bone is so small. My Dentist office in Mexico is doing a trial starting in May and instead of costing $1,000 each rod I can have it done for $350 a rod during this trial, he recommended me for it and said I would be a prime candidate. I please if you have had these done please let me know how it has gone for you. I have been going through all sorts of scenarios in my mind...can you get them if you have a nickel allergy? how long do you have to wait to eat solid foods after you get them in? how painful are they?....and my boyfriend is asking is oral pleasure no more or is it just like having your normal teeth in? (leave it to the man to ask all right questions)

OH!! or have you had the 'clearchoice' procedure done? I just got told about that one...it looks promising but very expensive...please let me know.

I don't have titanium rods for dentures, but do have a titanium rod for one implant (one false tooth). It was a fairly easy procedure as was the recovery. Having my wisdom teeth out was much worse. Since you already have your teeth out then you don't have the extractions to worry about.

I'd go for it if I were in your shoes.

Thank you very much for your input!...are you able to put a lot of pressure on that replaced tooth? I can barely chew with my dentures

I can put all pressure on it. It is just another tooth...just like the rest. I even chew ice...which my dentist hates.

It was tender at first, but once it heals you should feel nothing with it.

Are you talking about the three rods they put across the top, and three across the bottom, that hold your dentures plates in, and the plates will last like 20 years ? If you are, I know what you mean, but, don't know of anyone to have them. I guess they are exactly like teeth... I know I thought if I ever have to get dentures, that is the way I would go. I checked into it like 4 or 5 years ago, when I first heard about it, but, the whole thing, when all was said and done, was almost 20 GRAND...lol

I thought it sounded like a PERFECT solution to dentures. I also think I have seen many older personalities who had it done.

I wouldn't worry about the rod placement, I know they put you under to put them in, they are permanant too, your jaw bones grow around the rods. I think there is like a month or so that you have to 'eat easy', till the bone really grabs hold of them.

If you do it... let us know ! lol, I am very curious !

Having this kind of thing done is terrifying - I had almost all my teeth out at once but have had minimal problems with the fit (little loose on top but not bad). I, too would be interested in finding out how it turns out

I don't have them, but my sisters sister in-law had to have them after a very bad auto accident. She has had them for about 18 years now, and has had no issues with them. She was very happy that she was able to get them because she was a teenager and very self concious after the wreck.

    azwup05,
do you know if she has the ones that you pop your dentures onto a little ball or if she has something like the all on 4 where the denture is screwed into the jaw and does not come out? or is her's like a partial or individual screws...at either rate, Glad she has had a good experiance with them....and thank you for responding.

@Madie, I will post my experiance if I decide to have them put in, im still debating and still wanting to get more info.
