    paypal fees?

I was going to purchase some coupons from a lady who was trying to charge OUTLANDISH
pp fees. Anyway I checked into them and from my understanding if you already have money in there they don't charge fees. Or if you "gift" it to someone. I decided to try it and sent money to dh's account and NO fees were charged. So am I correct and no fees will be charged if you already have money in there or if you "gift" it.

I don't understand what you mean. If you have money in paypal they don't charge fees. That doesn't make sense to me so I must be misunderstanding what you are saying.
When I was buying some things out of China on ebay, it said no gifting. I thought it meant no gifting to get out of paying taxes. Do you mean it meant no gifting to get out of paying paypal charges? I am confused now.

From what I understand if you "purchase" something from someone on here lets say, and you use the "purchase" side then they will be charged fees, if you use the personal side, no one pays any fees. However, I believe if you use the personal side, you are not protected in your purchases. They wont make them refund your money if they dont send the item out, get what I mean??
So, if I were to purchase something on here, I would add in extra for their fees so I am still protected.

    It is confusing.

Thanks for clearing that up freeby.
    That makes alot of sense!!
At least I checked into it. I sometimes want to transfer money to my dh's account but
don't want to pay all those lousy fees. So at least now I know how to do so!!

Does anyone here know what the actual fees are?? Is it based on the amount or per transaction because it would be helpful for us to know if the person is really trying to just rip us off.

As long as you are not using a credit card... If you are using Funds that you already have in paypal, an echeck or funds direct from your checking account then...
If you click the SERVICES icon, no fees will be charged, but then they cannot ship direct thru paypal.
If you click the GOODS icon, then they will have to pay the fees, but can ship direct thru paypal.

    Does that make any sense?

All things considered, the fees aren't that bad. Just think if you had to go get a money order and then send it to the seller. You'd be out easily $.75+ just to do that.
But if she's over-charging you for paypal fees., I'd tell her to take a hike.
