    Neveah (heaven backwards)

Funny funny is the girl that I knew who named her DD that was part of a religious group that believed certain rock songs played backwards have Satanic messages

that was the point I was making. Sometimes when you do this to your kid the result you were looking for isn't always there. And what a parent might think is a good idea thinking it will make them special sometimes will have the reverse effect. I mean when my Mom gave me my name she didn' do it to be different because she originaly thought i was a boy it was suposed to be BOB (can't get any plainer than that) but when she heard the name Anissa she thought it was beautiful. And it is very pretty but when you are 5 yrs old and your teacher can't pronounce and you have to tell her and all the kids how to pronounce your name your spotlight lasts about 5 minutes and the only person saying your name is beautiful is the teacher. No 5 year old any other student growing up thought my name was special, beautiful, pretty they all thought the same thing: My parents did drugs and were weird. I grew up the 70/80's in the suburbs no one had my name maybe it is different now the names of michelle, dawn, bobby, danny are the odd ones and the names w/ La in front of them and the apostrophe in the middle of the name (kills me hard enough trying to get her kid to learn how to spell and write thier name and then you add an apostrophe in the mix) is the norm????

I have 2 or 3 friends that have the same first name as you so I didn't think it was that uncommon and we are all in our mid to late 40's so it was before the tv show was on. But I can imagine how hard it would be on a small child having to correct people all your life. Mine is Sandra and I had teachers that couldn't get that one correct - Sandra is not pronounced SOndra... Duh and these people went to college.

Well, my name is Sondra. I like my name. I also like the name Sandra but that is not my name. I was called Sandra, Sandy, not Sondra. It is horrible to always be correcting people. And it would hurt my feelings. I thought if people couldn't learn my name, they didn't care much for me. I run into people from highschool and I still get Sandra. It shouldn't hurt my feelings but it does. Sandra, does it hurt your feelings to be called Sondra? It indicates to me that we are not important enough to people to learn our names.

Once I correct them with Sandy they usually don't call me Sondra again. It is funny the only people that call me Sandra are family members. I do have a very good friend named Sondra and she hates it when people call her Sandra and don't call her Sandy that is worse.
