be honest...
Whenever someone knocks on your door, do you always answer it?
I dont. If I am not expecting you, dont expect me to open the door. I just had someone knock on the door and I totally ignored it. I could have sworn I heard them knock on the neighbors door first, so I am just about possitive it was someone wanting to bother me.
Whether it was kids wanting to shovel, or the Jehovah Witnesses that my husband spoke to once, and they wont quit coming back, or someone else, lol, at this point, dont know, dont care, dont want to be bothered.

I agree with everything you said.

This time of night, I am usually either lounging or cooking supper. Supper was early tonight, so this is my time to unwind before bed. Unless expected or invited, no one gets to see me after I get home. This is my family time. To me it is the same as getting phone calls during dinner.

I always acknowledge the knock because I don't want ppl thinking no one is home so they can break in (something they've been doing a lot lately in my area)... but I don't open the door, I just ask what they need... unless I know you or I have to sign for an *expected* package, I don't ever open the door. Most ppl are annoyed that I won't open the door and don't even bother trying to sell anything... of course, if they do try I remind them that it is illegal to sell door to door in my city and they quickly leave.

In my old neighborhood, a neighbor had a little sign on her door. "If you didn't bother to call, don't bother to knock"

I always answer the door and always answer the phone.
It's only kinky the first time.

I never answer the door. My brother doesn't even bother to knock anymore he just opens the door (he has a key) and prays the dog will let him in the house. As for the phone - that is why they have answering machines and voice mail. If you want me to answer the phone call my cell or talk to the machine.

I agree with everything you said.
Considerate people call first.
I am gonna make myself one of those little signs mentioned above for my door.

I don't answer it at night unless I'm expecting someone. All my friends know to at least text me when they get to my subdivision or I won't answer the door.

LOL, my kids are paranoid. I had them take the dogs out. They came back in swearing someone had bled on the porch, it had to be the person who knocked earlier.
In Michigan, in the winter, you dont have to put everything in the fridge, you can put it outside until it gets really cold. I like to do this with 2 liters. Unfortunately, I didn't bring it in before we had this last really cold snap. The "blood" they saw was actually just my diet pomegranite 7 up that had burst. LOL.
