Just to put what I've seen into perspective. When they were first married I got pregnant with my first shortly after I ran over to tell her the news. He was there and told her she better not get any ideas cause if she did he had a wire hanger to take care of it. She said he was only kidding.

Ok your friend needs to get the heck away from him - he is an abuser. Plain and simple he is NOT going to change. Hopefully he will only put her in the hospital a few times before she wises up and gets away from him. Of course he is a nicey nicey now just wait until she doesn't do what he demands and he puts her through a wall. Sorry I get so frustrated and upset with people that put up with this type of treatment.

Wow, the more you say, the more shocked I become. I cannot even begin to compare my experience with hers now. If he doesn't already physically abuse her (as if being verbally abused isn't bad enough!!!!!!!!!!!), I think he will. I think all you can do for her is pray for her and be there and support her when she crashes. God bless you for caring.

If you follow the law, depending on what state you live in, she would have gone to jail for hitting first. Other states, they both would have gone to jail for domestic violence.

My personal opinion, it was no more right for either of them to hit the other, but, if she hit first, she really should expect the other party, man or woman to retaliate. I would ask her if he would have struck her if she hadn't hit him first? What example are they setting for the children if she is a sahm?

He already belittles her for being a SAHM mom and the house not being pristine, if she were to get a job, he would belittle her for the house not being pristine and for never being at home for the kids when they need her. Shes in a no win situation.

Men like him are an "equal opportunity" abuser. I pray that the kids are smart enough to hide when they start fighting.

As a nurse I have seen more beat up women than I care to remember and they often refused to press charges and went straight home to them as soon as they were able because they loved them. I wonder sometimes if some people don't know what love really is.
