Tankless Water Heaters
Do you have one?
Are you or spouse a contractor that installs them.
What brand do you have? and would you recommend it?
I know I can look at reviews online but I'd like more input from 'real' people
I've only seen a few different brands in my area, but I'm willing to drive up to 100 miles if I had a recommendation
Would like to purchase very soon (ours is already leaking)
to take advantage of the tax deduction

I wanted to put one in however my water lines froze & burst my water heater so I needed something FAST so I couln't wait.
They are expensive initially however if you factor in that I have to replace water heaters every 5-6 years eventually it will become cost efficent.
The main issue with these types of water heaters is how many people do you have living in your home, how many bathrooms, how many levels, how many loads of laundry or dishes do you do in a typical week.
You may actually end up having to put in 2 of these heaters. We've already had a customer who had to put in 4 of these but then this was a 7 bedroom 7 bath home.

I work for an electrical contractor - we have done wiring on a few including one at my bosses house. If you don't have gas/propane it is a waste of money. They are very expensive and you really should check before you buy that the tax deductions are still available. I know the ones for Solar systems is a joke and it is not funded.

I always wanted to make a Solar Water Heater http://www.instructables.com/id/Sola...han-Five-Doll/
I used to watch that show on BBC ~ It's Not Easy Being Green, and they make all that stuff look so simple. http://www.bbc.co.uk/lifestyle/tv_and_radio/green/

We have gas
single family, single story
HE washer
dishwasher is run approx 3 times per week
currently 1 bath; may have another in 2 years or less.
I'm pretty sure the tax deduction is good until the end of the year. the 30% up to $1500 (I think this is right)

One should work for you then. Good luck & yes take advantage of the tax credit.

Just curious but why do you have to replace your water heater every 5-6 years?

Because they don't make them as sturdy as they use to. My first one lasted 22 years the last one only lasted 5 yrs and 2 months - 2 months after the warranty expired.
