We need to educate people for the need for organs. I don't understand why there isn't campaigning to do this , just like there is to educate people about heart disease, cancer etc. Just as many or more lives could be saved this way as by research. We now have the know how to make these transfer of organs so why aren't we using them to the fullest?

I heard on the news the other day that they were thinking about automatically using peoples organs when they die whether they were donors or not. I wonder if they'll ever do that. I don't think some peoples families would like that.

After the US goes over backwards to protect people's rights, sometimes to the point of being rediculous, I would find it hard to believe they could do this, but you never know these days what's gonna fly. I would be for it. Think of all the lives that would be saved and the money that would be saved and the misery that would be prevented.

I would rather give all my organs to people than to just be buried and waste them. A lot of people and their familes could have more time together that way.

I don't think it should be mandatory to donate. I am NOT an organ donor and have no desire to be one. My brother was 21 and needed a liver. They let him die but gave one to a 67 year old woman, who of course had more money. Nope I think I will just take mine with me. Now if I could put stipulations on it, like only a poor person could have it, then yes sign me up. Its not all about need its who has the most money.

I don't think that will fly - some religions proscribe donation as desecrating the body

It would depend on the situation, my health, the prognosis and since this is something I would pray about, what God tells my heart is right for me and the recipient.

I would give a kidney to my kids or anyone else in my family but I don't think I really can because I'm diabetic.
