    Credit card bills

I missed paying our Chase credit card bill. I have started paying bills online because I think it is all heading in the paperless direction and I wanted to get ahead of the game. Anyway, Chase called here Sunday morning at 8:15. Are they allowed to call anytime of day or night? My friend, 10 yrs older than me, is having trouble getting her mind around all her bills too. She got a call at 9:45 at night. I know we all hate to admit we miss paying a bill but most of us have had it happen sometime in our lifetime. Anyone know if there are any rules about when they can call?

You missed one payment and they called you? That would be the thing that pissed me off the most! I dont know what times they can call you

Someone charged a satellite radio on my chase card in November and I never got any bills, late notices or anything, I just happened to check my account online one day

    I found this online.

Dealing with Debt Collectors: The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is the federal law that dictates how and when a debt collector may contact you. A debt collector may not call you before 8 a.m., after 9 p.m., or while you’re at work if the collector knows that your employer doesn’t approve of the calls. Collectors may not harass you, lie, or use unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. And they must honor a written request from you to stop further contact.

If the phone call irritated you just imagine how much irritation you are going to have when you get your next bill and it has a higher interest rate. I know they changed the rules in February but I will bet it still goes up.

They can and do call if you miss one payment. I didn't pay my cell bill one month since they didn't send a bill. I got a call before my next bill went out and I informed the lady that I had no received the bill and she took the late charges off. After that I switched back to getting all my bills send via US Mail.

Yes it is very easy to miss one when they come by email. I don't want and haven't knowingly requested any by email but I had to call USAA and request that they go back to paper mail.

Ya know, I have that same problem with forgetting to pay emailed bills so I still have paper statements sent but pay online. I guess I need something in my face to remind me. LOL

Was is a collector or the company? I think if it was the actual company the rules cited for collectors don't apply. I would imagine your call was similar to the call I received from Bank of America. Basically the recording just said you haven't made your payment, if you would like to do so now press this number. I was happy they called, I had submitted payment through my bank's billpay and it had gotten lost in the mail. Because they called me I was able to find out what happened before 30 days were up and avoided a 30 day late on my credit report.
    Bored? Looking for something fun?

I don't know for sure , I'm sure it could have been the company but it wasn't a recording. It was an actual person.

I had that problem. Missing bills that came in email. So now I sit down every month on the first and pay every bill we owe whether it's due or not. It makes my life so much easier.
