you know I was in a similar situation last year, except I had no idea who the parents were. BUT I went into my dd's class and saw a little boy with a good size hole in the toe of his sneaker. At the time I didn't say anything because I thought, well its close to Christmas maybe Santa was bringing him new shoes. It did bother me though because we live in Maine and there was a lot of snow on the ground. I went back into the class a couple months after Christmas and the little boy still had the same shoes only they were badly separated from the sole, you could easily see 1/4 of his foot when he walked. Well I was very upset. So I thought about it for a couple of days and decided to talk to the teacher. I told her that I understood they have privacy laws....but I'd like to buy the boy some new shoes. They could either tell me the size or I would give the school the money and a staff member could go buy them. Well she had to talk to the principal to see how she should handle this......Come to find out Our school district has a grant from New Balance and all the school had to do was submit a form to New Balance and his family could take him in and get him new shoes for free. Well had I spoke up sooner the boy wouldn't have had to go through winter with holey shoes. Please don't wait.....if the child has needs that you can fill do it now.

Well youve already got some great opinions so not much I can say but maybe the dad really really wants help he just doesnt want to ask or doesnt know who to ask or whatever the case may be. Obviously he knows and he cares if he took the time to sew the pants up(I guess he was the one who did it) There are things at school that can help them or if not there should be. I know when I was going to school they(counselors and clubs) would send home forms to the students who were on free lunch they filled it out and a few days later each kid would go home with a brand new pair of shoes and at Christmas they would choose a few of the most needy students and take them to WalMart for a mini shopping spree of clothes PLUS they would ask them what they wanted and get them games, etc wrapped up.
So if you all dont wanna take your clothes to Goodwill or etc you could TRY taking them to your childs school and see if theyll accept them to be given out. Or if your school has these programs think about donating a little money to it if theyll accept it of course.
To see the future you must forget your past...otherwise your past will become your future

Everything went well He was happy to get the clothes.
Things have a funny way of working out, but last week, my boss brought me 7 HUGE bags of clothes that her girls out grew, and there were lots of things that would fit my daughters friend.
I just told him the truth... I had a bunch of clothes given to me and I wanted to share.
Right now I am waiting on someone to pick up the remaining clothes.
