Red face IMAC computer genuises help me PLEASE...

I bought an IMAC at a garage sale today for 10 bucks. My question is can I run people pc on it to connect to the net? I am totally self taught on the computer and have never seen anything but a window system. I am dling the connection software to try to use one the new to me computer but have no idea if it will work. I am soooo lost help. Thank you.

What operating system is on it? I think that you will need to update/upgrade the operating system to a more current one. But I do believe you can use a Mac to use People PC.

I have no idea where to find that info but will boot it up and explore around icons and see if I can find out.



Edited to add I found a date that is older than the firdst one I gave It is apparently from 1998 I still haven't figured out where it says what OS it is running. Anyone know where that is?

Chances are you are going to have to upgrade to at least OS X...I think thats called "Tiger". Do you have an Apple store near you where you could bring it in and have them upgrade it? Its totally worth it to have them do it because you need firmware updates too and it gets really confusing as to what you need etc. Also, some iMacs are not upgradable to OS X. But I think its like the very first ones that came out. Again, the "Genius" at the Apple store would know it all.
