I don't have kids... so I don't have this problem. But... I do have a family member whose child was that way and she got so sick of fighting her on it that she decided to let it go. It only took one person being mean and telling her she stunk to fix the problem. Now she sometimes is over obsessed about it... anyways... it's an option.

Matt is 16 and for the past 2 years, or so, it has been a fight getting him to take a shower. When he does so willingly I always wonder who is the girl

Oh, the joys of teenagers!
My older son would shower twice a day, AM and PM.
The younger one was the one who never had time to shower.
It amazed me that he could 'shower' and the Dial soap was still dry and unused.
I think this was preteen age.
So, one parent or the other would smell his hair and send him back
in "And this time use shampoo & soap."
Now that he is 20, it is not an issue any more.
It does help if you get that liquid shower soap in the flavor of their choice.
That really helped w/ the younger one.
* * *
When I was growing up, had 7 sisters (8 girls) and we were all limited to 5 minutes per shower, including shampooing. Get in & wet, soap up, shampoo, rinse. Get out.
My Mom set a timer, and getting clean was never an issue. LOL!

i raised 2 boys and shower time here for my oldest.was like pulling teeth,i think he thought water would burn him or something.
my youngest son lived in the shower, and then he was a mirror person too!
both boys are great now,i think its just something some of the teenangers go through

As for my kids not getting in the shower, I've never had that issue and my kids are 14, 13, and 10 (almost 11)

She got a wet/dry straightener for Christmas last year and never used it when her hair was wet. I think she tried it and didn't like it, so she only used it when her hair was dry and just recently traded it with a friend cause they like each others straighteners better .. lol.

I remember these days when my daughter was a teen. The best advice I got was from my boss at the time, he told me to just let her do as she pleased and not to even acknowdelge it, that she will come around eventually and start taking care of it herself because of peer pressure. And that it has no reflection on my parenting skills.
(I used to be so mad at her, I didn't want to take her with me to the store sometimes.)
Okay... Easier said then done, but it worked, and rather quickly too.
