Chickens are very easy to take care of, I do know that. But now the main point of me replying to this post. I am terrified of chickens. The reason I am terrified of chickens is because I got flogged a lot as a child. The reason I got flogged so much is because I loved to handle and play with the baby chicks. Mama chickens don't like for their chicks to be messed with.

If you do go with the chickens, please teach your children not to play with their chicks. Flogging hurts, hurts so bad that it makes you sick to your stomach.

Edited to add that the floggings came from the mama chickens, not my parents or anyone else.

Yeah, I've been flogged trying to get eggs from underneath a hen that was trying to set. They don't like that. I learned to shoo them off the nest with something 1st, lol!
