I don't see how that can be legal for fountain drinks and RB. Geez next thing you know they will be taking them at restaraunts etc. Isn't the whole point is to put FOOD ON THE TABLE?

Every convenience store I have worked in has accepted them. You'd be surprised at the number of people coming in at 1 a.m. to use them to get pop and candy bars.

I'm not sure how it's any different than going and buying a frozen pizza at a store. I don't have a problem with it. I buy pizza (with cash) for my kids and put that on our table. I think it's a decent meal for my family.

I do have a problem with seeing people with a cart full of pop and/or potato chips and using those cards. I used to be friends with a female who would do that. She'd fill the cart up with dr. pepper and lays potato chips and that's all she had all month. Her daughter got a kid cuisine tv dinner for dinner, pbj for lunch, and cereal for breakfast (which she got from WIC). When I worked at Walmart, people would come through the line trying to buy energy drinks with the card and it wouldn't work. They were so pissed off. They'd also try to buy those popcorn tins at Christmas time and would get mad when that didn't work.

Here the popcorn tins work. Anything like the candy or cookies in the decorated tins work as well.

I don't know if it's different by state (probably is) but around here you can buy Easter baskets filled with just candy using EBT. There's actually big stickers on the baskets that say "Use your EBT card to buy this item" at most stores that take it.

I am not sure if it varies state to state but around here the ebt cards can either be "just foodstamps" or "foodstamps and welfare money".I assume the ones being used in a restaraunt are not the "just foodstamp" ones. The people receiving welfare payments can use the cards at any store to buy things they need.I don't really agree with it but it is used more like a credit card(I think?)and does not go under foodstamp rules.

The one with the money on it can be used anywhere, just like a reg debit card. here the cards r the same looking. I get just stamps and it can be used at Papa Murphys.]

As for the deli, anything that is not hot, can be bought. I think those rules r the same everywhere and the little rules depend of the store.

Can't buy redbull at Walmart but you can at the gas station

Personally, I would rather be able to buy toilet paper instead of soda and junk food.

I hear you, when I was on them, I so wished I could use it for toilet paper and laundry soap, body bar soap, deodorant....

The thing is, that would probably never happen because disposable razors (the expensive kids) probably fall under the same category and there is great resale value on those. That is why they are such a big theft item.
