Spasms near your heart?
I have been getting spasms kinda lower then my heart maybe my diaphragm. It's right in top opening from where your ribs are I've read some sites that people get these and I was curious to know if anyone has dealt with this? It's been going on for about three days now, The first two days it was just a little here and a little there but today it's pretty much been none stop since noon. It's freaking me out. I don't know what it is or why it's happening. I have an appt to go see my doctor Monday. Does anyone know anything about this? Thank you all

The coronary arteries are the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart muscle. Sometimes one of them can go into spasm (sometimes called a vasospasm). This can reduce or even stop the blood flow to a part of the heart. Spasms can occur in a normal coronary artery or in one that's partly blocked by fatty buildups (atherosclerosis). Why spasms occur isn't clear.
If you have spasms, you may have chest pain or discomfort called angina pectoris. Spasms typically occur during rest rather than during exertion. If a spasm is severe, a heart attack is possible
I would say if it continues go to the ER dont wait till Monday!!!

As someone in the medical field and as someone who thought my "heartburn" and "twinges" was from a big meal while I was actually having a heart attack...go to the ER. You can't tell the difference between a spasm in an artery or muscle. It's nothing to play around with or wait for it to subside.

There is no pain at all when this happens. You know how you get a spasm in one of your leg muscles it feels exactly like that how, it just jumps.

If you don't want to go to the ER, call your PCP just to be safe. There's always a doc on call at night.

The only reason I am trying to avoid the E.R. is because I do not have insurgence. We are in so much debt as it is. But believe me if it keeps happening I will be going. I really don't think it's my heart because I do occasionally get palpitations and you can feel how they are in your heart and this seems lower.

Call your doctor and ask if he can work you in, tell him you are willing to wait all day if necessary. Don't wait until Monday.

You are close to Morgantown... you should go there, not Davis Memorial. I'm sure you already know that. It's probably nothing serious (I'm hoping so anyways), but, IT'S BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY !
All the huge medical billboards around here say "If you don't know...go !" ~ to the hospital that is.
My DH is a ACLS heart nurse on the progressive cardiac unit here... I would ask him, but, he's at work.
If nothing else, just have your heart ruled out as the cause, that's pretty simple to do. GOOD LUCK !
