I just had a bunch of blood work done and thyroid was one of them, unfortunately on the insurance break done it doesn't detail what they are for. But they ran from 54.00 to 254.00. These are costs before my insurance paid.
The best thing you could do is call a lab and ask them what the fee is for it.
Don't forget you will have to go to a doctor to get a script for it.

I would call the Dr's office first and see if they will do the blood work in house and if they do find out how much that would cost that way but also get the cost for the 2 visits. You will need one visit to get the paperwork for the blood test and then the follow up for the results. HTH

I know the visit is going to be about $60-$80. I only have to pay 40 up front and then they bill me for the rest. But we are like everyone else at the moment and really don't have a lot and of course not really anything saved back, So I'm trying to add everything up so I know exactly what I'm going to need. Thanks for the help. I will give them a call and see if they know what I should do.

I just had a TSH(thyroid), FSH and a few others done. I checked my bill but they just list all of my tests as lab work. I hope you can get an office call that cheap. Our PCP now charges $120 a visit. I bet they will let you make payments. Last year there was a misunderstanding so our insurance refused to pay some of my DD's bills and her doctor offered to let us make payments. I finally got them to resubmit the paperwork the right way then the insurance payed. I hope you can get it tested soon. I have an underactive thyroid and it is no fun when it is not regulated.

You might want to do Google search and see if there are any labs in your area that do the blood work, I just had some done last month. it cost me $120 for 2 tests I had done.
If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.

If you can find a clinic that is based on your income you may be able to swing it. I take my mom to a clinic a couple of towns away and she pays 25 for her visit and then half of whatever they do. For her last visit and thyroid test it was 42$, but that was for the t4 test. So full price would have been 34$ just for the test. I know there is another test, t3 I think, and I am not sure how much that one is as they dont test that one regularly.

The last time mine was done, it cost me
    $110 for the lab
    $109 for the office visit

This was July '08, so i'm sure it has increased since then.
