WARNING!! AVG POP UP ALERT is a .........
SCAM. Please If you get one do NOT click on it. ANd here is why:
Last night I was telling my dh that My computer has updated the last 2 days. And he asked me "what do you mean" and I said windows keeps updating.
He went on to tell me his bosses computer got a bad virus when a AVG look alike popped up and the guy that lives with him clicked on it. It pop up and asks you to do an update. The guy said it looks just like the real one expect the color of the line at the top is a different color.
Needless say He took it to the shop and they said his was the fourth one they have seen with this happen. I have not heard anything abou this.
I never click on updates because I don't trust them either. I would go into AVG. I get little boxes saying similar things and I just get out of that page.
But just thought I would pass along so no one else gets slammed with this.

Is it an avg or av360? AV360 is a very nasty and extremely hard to remove. I haven't heard of the avg popup. Thanks for the heads up

The A/C contractor I work for got this on his home computer because his wife thought "oh this must be important". I was able to finally get rid of it and told them "don't click on anything".

I don't know really. He just said the guy said it popped up and asked to download and said it looked just like the real one only something about the color or lines was different.

That's my motto as well. I always figure AVG pulls when it needs an update or If I guestion it I open AVG and go from there.

It will give you constant pop ups that you need to update your antivirus - I mean it will drive you crazy as soon as you close one box another pops up. It about drove me crazy.
