I was discussing this with my husband yesterday and thinking to myself, "well, if you can afford them." But I wonder how long they've been making money off the size of their family. I know their show's been on tv for a year......and I think it's one of the most boring reality shows on tv.

I think it's really cool to love babies and have some of your own, but when do we become responsible? Folks that desperately want more kids need to realize that there are children (here in the US) who desperately want and need homes and loving families!

Perhaps their religion precludes them from using the usual birth control (I really don't know) but there are other methods. I just think it's irresponsible.

Unfortunately it is very hard to adopt children in the US. That is why some couples go out of the country. I have a friend that is looking at adopting a son (they have 4 girls) and they are looking outside the US because of all the crap they put you through to get a child here.

I agree about adoption in the US.

But it's not much easier overseas --

I guess that is good for people selling a school bus

you would have to have a school bus to seat that many kids at one time!

It really depends on the country. They are looking at adopting from a country in Central America, South America or the Caribbean.

Yes, this has been discussed numerous times, but I see no problem with discussing it again.

They are perfectly able to afford it. Before the first show, they were completely out of debt and and supported themselves just fine. They lived on a tight budget but they were supporting themselves. The father is a realtor and they own several commercial properties.

It would not be my choice, but they are a loving family and their children seem amazingly well-adjusted. More power to them.

Oh...I'm sure they have gotten lots of money from the shows which I find interesting.

I was watching the show last night and Michelle said something about after the 1st child was born she went on birth control and wound up getting pregnant anyway. That pregnancy resulted in a miscarrage which they relate to the birth control so that is why they don't use it anymore.

There is no way in heck I would want that many kids, but for them it seems to be o.k. The kids all seem to be happy, healthy, well behaved. They get to do some awesome things due to the show that most families would never get to do. Some of them are now starting to go off on their own and get married. I'm sure they will make upstanding citizens.

They have been self supporting for years, like Michelle Dugger said, if they cant pay for it with cash, they dont get it. They rent out commercial properties, real estate, and have a car lot. Each of those kids are well mannered, polite, kids. They are taught respect , honestly and about hard work .
I personally dont see how they do it, but whatever they do seems to work. I wish my kids were as well behaved lol.
