Kinda Good Kinda Not So Good
I have been fighting for Disability since 2001 Have had 2 appeal hearings and dozens of letters from doctors to help me. Today i get my Notice of Decision they are going to give me my Disability but only go back 2 yrs. Now i know i should be happy with this but that is why you get a attorney and fight for your rights. But on the other hand i am happy finally they see that i am not telling a lie. I just don't understand why they will not give all the way back my sil says it is because they are running out of money i do have a weight lift off my shoulders just now trying to find out how long it takes to get your back pay and start my monthly check.
There comes a point in life when you realize who really matters,who never did, and who never will.

it shouldn't take too much longer to get your check and back pay - it takes up to 10 business days for anything they mail to get to you. You can call and speak with them and find out when it's going to get mailed out. They should be able to tell you.

Your scaring me! I was home a year in Feb. & just started the paperwork, interviews, etc... for disability in June. I am doing it myself so far, no attorney. I hope your case isn't the norm or I will be in trouble!

Save yourself some time. Get an attorney. Most cases are turned down the first time, and you'll end up having to get an attorney to fight for you anyway.

Congrats, I have a lawyer since I got denied the first time and this past march made it 4 yrs that I have been fighting it. It is crazy!!!!

They did the very same thing to me.It took me five long years..but I didnt hire a lawyer I did it all by myself..

I'm not sure why but it seems like it's easier for those with mental disabilities to get it a lot quicker than those with physical disabilities. Most of the people I know of that have some sort of a mental disability have gotten it on the first try. I'm glad you were finally approved.

I've noticed that too. The people with physical disabilities that need it the most have the hardest time getting it approved. It's crazy!
Callsheb, I'm glad you were finally approved. I'm sorry that you weren't able to get all the backpay you should have received, that just isn't really fair.

Thank You all i ended up going to Social Security today to update my records since it has been so long. Here in Mo don't know about other states they are going to give my backpay in installments now isn't that BS. Was going to get some home improvements done before winter but dont know how now i will get every 6 months a installment on what they owe me. How in the world can you even get anything done that way. I was not very happy when i left and then my lawyer wants to appeal the dates but i told her no i got the answer i don't want to wait 18 months on a date for court and 3 months to wait for a answer and then they can reverse it and take it all away from me No Thanks will not go thru that will take what i get and be done. She is not happy but oh well that is what i have decided and don't she have to do what i want? I sure hope so cause i am done she did not impress me and she gets 25% i went and got all my medical records for her so she did not have to charge me a out of pocket but i bet she charges me plenty now that i will not let her appeal it.
