Anyone have avast?

I just downloaded Avast because my AVG was making my computer super slow. So Im wondering if anyone has this and can give me some hints on it. Do I need to "run" a scan at a certain time? Does is "scan" stuff all the time?

This thing is just so new to me, I've never used it before. Also, I read something about it needing a register key or something like that within 60 days, is that something I have to buy?

Pretty much any help at all would be huge for me! Thanks a bunch in advance!!

Are you just slow when you are on BBS or is it everywhere? I know for me its real slow here at BBS but not anywhere else.

Oh my gosh that sounds hilarious!!

but seriously, yes it was slow everywhere. Really bad. On my computer itself, then online everywhere. I have the highest internet charter has (high speed) and it would still take 40 seconds for my homepage to load. Outragous. But since I removed AVG it was a super huge inprovement. I did send off an email to my computer guru dude and he looked around online and suggested I download Avast as other people online said it wasnt interfering with their system (others were having problems with AVG, but not everyone)

I have avast and when you downloaded it you had the option to set the scan. I also just uninstalled AVG myself it was doing updates like 5xs a day and asking for a restart I didnt have to enter a registration key I did the free version. HTH

I have used AVG for several years now and always have had such great luck with it. Until (there is always that until) I downloaded their latest verson. I seem to drag here at BBS but no where else? But when I am not online, I have huge problems burning disc for pics etc...and have been thinking it is my AVG. Its really odd. I think I will go rid of my AVG. I hope your problem is solved quickly.

I have avast and really like it. If you have the free version you dont have to buy anything. After you register, they will email you your license key, with instructions on how to insert it. You will have to re-register every year.

ohh OK I get it.

So I dont have to "set up" a scan? It just scans while online?

I dont remember setting up a scan for mine.....it does run constantly while online.

If you watch it you can see it going in a circle while you are on sites like this and if you click on the round ball it will tell you how many things it has scanned ect. My computer runs much better also. I am thinking you will like it.
