If there is too much crap in real life..why start it here. Maybe some people just want to hoard all the crap.

What is your family's favorite "frugal" meal.

I thought since the economy is bad right now, new ideas on feeding our families on a budget might help us all. I am getting ready to step out for the night so I will post a bunch of ideas tomorrow. However I am curious on how other families deal with making meals on a budget.

    we make 'curlaronies'

    I use 1lb hamburger
    1 box of rotini
    1 can of tomato soup
I usually buy a loaf of garlic bread to go with

I can feed the 5 of us for under $5 (under $3 if I use the frozen ground turkey) and we usually have leftovers

we also make frito chili pies, nacho's and those banquet crockpot meals.
Don't make me get out my flying monkeys.

Here too. Also taco salads. They are kinda cheap to make and we can eat on them for like 2 days.

Oh and breakfast is pretty cheap... pancakes, french toast or eggs and the fixins.

And you can't beat a good ole bologna sandwich... according to my DH. LOL

I usually make dinner that uses only one chicken breast instead of two for the family. Like chicken and dumpling, or recipes that uses dice chickens. Any chicken casseroles. I also don't use the recommended amount of ground beef in a recipe, I usually use only half of it and my family doesn't notice it at all.
