The biggest was 3400 or so. But I had DH raise his expemptions so we would have that $$ at each paycheck. I don't like giving the govt my money to use all year long interest free. They wouldn't do the same for me.

Last year was our biggest and we got $2900. This year we got $700 because I was working. State is another story. We have never got a refund. This year we have to pay in $1200.

Most years we get about 4000-4500 back. I am set to do ours this year on the 16th so not sure what we will have coming this year. Husband is self employed too and that has saved us. My god, we can take off a % of all our utilities and mortgage because he runs the biz(sets appointments, finishes projects, etc...) from home.

When I was applying for a loan to refinance the house last year I was nervous because his net income was low but the loan officer said we were just doing it right, that his father made over 80 grand and after all the deductions he showed an income of only 10 grand..I felt alot better and we got the loan with no problem. I used to do all our own taxes but with being self employed we now go to an accountant, it has really paid off for us. Plus I have someone to back me up if we do get audited.

It's really crap when you pay in about $25,000 in taxes & still says you owe.
Then we know ppl who make hardly anything & then they get goverment asstistants & they are getting back almost $7000 between federal & state.

Hubby got a settlement from work & we took the money out of the pension when he left the job. We paid in over $25,000 & now it says we still owe $2,000. I dont think so! We are going to an account.

    This yr really sucks!

I guess it does pay to sit at home, hardly make anything & get goverment assistants.

I just spent 3 hours doing our taxes... I don't remember what the largest amount was, but with some "creative deductions" courtesy of Turbotaxonline, we are getting back a little over $2500.

now to wait for the $1500 on the rebate thingie...

edit: I have a headache the size of Gulfport MS (and I haven't ever been there)
