    Unemployment question

I was laid off in December of last yr and I have been getting unemployment benefits while I am looking for another job. I was offered a "contract" job, meaning I work whenever they need help, I dont get any benefits and taxes are not withheld. This job is also in another state. Can I still get my unemployment check even though I might work a week or so here and there? Or do I need to declare this? I tried getting info but the lines are always busy and the internet is no help. Anyone know?

You are suppose to declare all income received while on unemployment. It will probably mean that your check for that period will be adjusted down but it shouldn't stop your unemployment fully.

I'm sure it changes state to state, so you might want to talk to your counselor, but when I was on it I had to check in every week if I was working or not until I found full time work. In WA state they ask questions like did you work at all? And how much will you make before taxes for the work you did? You just answer it all honestly and they will take out the difference of what you make and what you would be getting from unemployment.

You should have to give your earings when reporting. My d/h calls in every other wk. And they ask for earings for the back two weeks. If you have some they will deduct it from your amount. Well thats how Il. is.
