I have done the cake mix cookies before, they are really good. Gone ot make several different types this year I think. I have a good version where you use the lemon cake mix, 1 egg and 1 tub cool whip (I think it's just those 3 things) then roll the mix (It's sticky) into balls then roll in powder sugar. They are good. Messy but good and easy.

Here is a easy one I am going to do w/ the kids this year.

    Holiday Pretzel treats
    RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
    Bite-size, waffle-shaped pretzels
    Hershey's Kiss or Hershey's Hug
    M&M's candy
    1. Heat the oven to 170º. Set a number of bite-size, waffle-shaped pretzels (one for each treat) in a single layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, then top each pretzel with an unwrapped Hershey's Kiss or Hershey's Hug.

    2. Bake for 4 to 6 minutes (the white chocolate will melt more quickly), until the chocolates feel soft when touched with a wooden spoon. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and quickly press an M&M's candy into the center of each Kiss.

    3. Allow the treats to cool for a few minutes, then place them in the refrigerator to set, about 10 minutes.

I made a few of these to try last night, Walgreens had kisses last week on sale and this week the M&Ms are 2 for $5 w/ a $2 off 2 coupon in their montly flyer so I stocked up on those also. They are relly good. and easy! I tried it w/ reg. kisses and the peperment one, they were really good also. Was going to try the mint one but all my kisses were squashed so I am returning the bag for a new one.

here is the official one for the cake mix recepi I talked about in the previous post.

    Lemon Snowflake Cookies
1 (18.25 ounce) package lemon cake mix with pudding
    1 egg
2 1/4 cups frozen whipped topping, thawed
    2 cups confectioners' sugar

    DIRECTIONS
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Mix the cake mix, egg and whipped topping together. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until well blended (batter will be sticky).
Drop batter by teaspoonfuls into the confectioners' sugar and roll to coat. Place cookies onto ungreased baking sheets and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

*HEre is a side note from some on who made this.
i made these 3 times this month!! everyone loved em. use 1 1/4 cup whipped topping instead and they wont stick, the texture will be way better, and they will have pretty little crinkles on top

Batter will be very sticky! so be sure to take off any rings. so as to not get them nasty. They come out soft and chewy.

yup that is the non trade marked word for it. I have it written some where but copy/pasted it from a recipe sight and that is prob. why it didn't say cool whip.

Not really Christmasy, but these sound really good. If anyone tries these before I do, let me know how they are

    ~Black Forest Cookies~

    •1½ cups all-purpose flour
    •½ cup cocoa powder
    •¼ teaspoon salt
    •¼ teaspoon baking powder
    •¼ teaspoon baking soda
•½ cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
    •1 cup sugar
    •1 egg
    •1½ teaspoon vanilla
•1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, drained (reserve juice)
    •1 cup of chocolate chips
    •½ cup sweetened condensed milk

Whisk flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder and baking soda in a bowl. Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy; beat in egg and vanilla. Beat in dry ingredients until incorporated. Shape into 1-inch balls. Make indentation in center with your thumb and fill each with a cherry. Place on parchment or foil-lined baking sheet.
Heat oven to 350°. Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler or microwave. Stir in milk and 4 teaspoons reserved cherry juice. Pour 1 teaspoon of mixture over each cookie. Bake 10 minutes for fudgy cookies, 15 minutes for firmer ones. Makes about 30.

This is what we're making today:

Spritz Cookies (dough to use in a cookie press)
    • 3/4 cup of butter (soft, but not melted)
    • 1/2 cup of sugar
    • 1/2 tsp of baking powder

    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 tsp vanilla
    • 1/4 tsp almond extract (I omitted this as I didn't have any in the house and they still taste great!)
    • 1-3/4 cups flour
    • food coloring (optional--we used red and green)
    • sugar sprinkles or other decoration (optional)

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Cream butter, sugar and baking powder until combined. Add egg, vanilla and almond extract, beating to combine. Gradually beat in flour until the mixture is too thick for the mixer (I didn't use my mixer). Finish mixing in the flour with a wooden spoon. Add food coloring (optional).

Press dough through a cookie press on to an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 7-8 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Cool before icing or decorating.
