Results from my sleep study
Went to the doctor to go over the results. They got them back really fast. It seems I have sleep apnea. I stop breathing every 6 minutes then wake up and start breathing again. This goes on all night long but it happens so fast I don't remember waking up at all. It's nice to know why I never wake up feeling refreshed. So I have to get a Cpap, I think that is what it's called. The doctor said they sent a request to my insurance but would probably still have to pay for some of the coverage. Does anyone know if you buy or rent these? If you use one can you recommend a good one. I looked on line just to see the prices and they range from $239.00 to almost $400.00. Is one model better. The doctor said I would have to go in and try on face masks once the insurance goes through. I feel a little overwhelmed after looking at all that stuff on line. Going to have hubby go with me when I get one. I realize the machine doesn't come with the mask but I wish I had a clue as to how much this will cost. Would appreciate any info anyone could provide. Thanks in advance

Join the club- BUT you will feel sooo much better once you get used to it!
We had blue cross/ blue shield and they paid for everything. What happened in mine was that they rent the machine for you for 6 months to make sure you are going to use it- then they paid it off.
My mask just broke this morning and I have to pay a 350 deductable to get a new one...better to try to tape it for now. GL!
Waiting for cooler weather- want to get outside and do some walking- Loose more weight!

I also have sleep apnia. I have 3 different cpaps. I just got a new one last week. My insurance company paid $2,500.00 for it. I don't know about one that cost so little. All of mine have been over $2,000.00 each. My insurance paid for it all. I got my first one from the VA hospital and it was free of course. It is a remstar. My new one I haven't even looked at the name of. If you can find a cpap that cheap. I would buy it if your copay is going to be higher then that from the medical supply place. the face mask for all of mine came with them the first time and then when I needed another I just called the medical supply company I got the cpap from and they send me another and bill my insurace. same way with the tubing. sometimes it wears out and gets a hole in it and you need a new tube. Especially when you have cats or puppy that like to chew on them LOL. A respatory therapist has to set it up though. A family Dr can't. the medical supply place that your cpap comes from will send a respatory therapist to your house to set up your machine and show you how to work it. good luck

Although these mask cost about $135.00 new. you can normally find them on ebay new for around 30 or 40 dollars. just thought I would let you know since you have a deductible to meet.

I have looked there but they have
all been pulled off...something about ebay standards and laws...you can still get the cushion piece but what I need is the base - have a respironics...hubby used to have the remstar too- it was 15 years old when he retired it!
