    Greyhound bus trip

I'm wondering how many of you have used Greyhound and if you liked it or not. I happen to like it, meeting people from all over place and just making an adventure of it. I'm taking one tomorrow from NE Tennessee to Naples Florida.
30 hours, 4 buses. Yee haw LOL. Plus all those little stops inbetween. My sister will be 60 in a few months and I haven't seen her in 3 years when we cleaned out moms apt. (miss you mom) She is the oldest sister and I am youngst sister of 5 girls. (no brothers... imagine raising 5 daughters.. glad I have only one). Seeing her will get me out of my funk I think, since i'm back on my anti depressants and tired of these four walls. She knows I can't go out in the daytime, and she has a pool that is screened in and has a roof over it. That will be really nice. Char .. she asked me what I would like to drink and I gave her your favorite drink ingreds, and she is going to pick that up for us. She thought it sounded tasty too. (I'm 4 beers to the wind here now.. can ya tell? lol) I'll log in Wednesday and let you know how my adventure went.

I took a trip on Greyhound from West Ky to Norfolk, VA. I was on the bus like 25 hours. I met all kinds of people and had alot of fun. I was actually scared to death to get on the bus. My ex DH had told me what all kinds of freaks rode the buses and that I had no business going on my own. My biggest worry while I was gone was that I would get on the wrong bus when I had to change buses. But I made it there and back just fine. Had alot of fun.

I am seriously considering trying to do Greyhound out Great Falls, Montana fairly soon. My 74 yr old mom has family out there she hasn't seen in 60 yrs. I was able to track her brother down (he's in a nursing home) and a couple of second cousins plus a half sister of hers and I'm really hoping to get her out there soon. I was going to drive until gas prices went through the roof now I am considering other ways.I had thought of doing Amtrac but it turns out the train doesn't go there. So now I'm thinking of the bus but I'm not sure how comfortable it would be for mom. Does anyone know what the restrooms are like on the busses? do the take rest/eating stops? My last trip on greyhoung was about 20 yrs ago whenh I went from Washington to New Mexico. I was a long trip and I got pretty seat sore by the end of it (LOL).

have a safe trip and great time w/ your sister!!

As for me, I've done greyhound once for a field trip. I am not a public transportation fan and would prefer driving myself over being in a bus. I've actually gone across country a few times in my tiny car. I prefer this much more than anything else as it doesn't take as long, I control how many stops and I control my vehicle.. I have huge control issues, can you tell?

so.. Char, what's your fave drink?

When I was about 20 I took an Amtrak from Florida to Providence. It was about 26 hours with the stop and transfer at Grand Central Station. I probably wouldn't have minded it so much but I like to be able to take a shower and do my hair and since we were in coach we couldn't do that. I think if you were in the sleeper car area they probably had showers. Also the seats only went back so far so you were kind of sleeping in an upright position. It's not something I would want to do again. If it was a short trip that was just a few hours long I wouldn't mind.

I rode the bus from Iowa to Oklahoma one time. I was moving back here and didn't have a car.It wasn't too bad. I actually ran into one of my old friends from school that I hadn't seen in awhile.
