Family reunions... how is yours done?
Ok, let me start off by saying I am EXTREMELY jealous of my co-worker LOL
He was showing me the invitations to his family reunion. I was reading it and his family reunion's last for 3 days.
Day 1 - catfish fry at someone house
Day 2 - BBQ in a park
Day 3 - church and depart
Ok... We don't even send out invitations for our reunions (when we have them) someone just calls and says "be at the park on this day" and thats about it... then we all get there and my family is divided into 3 sections..
1 - people I see on a regular basis (very few)
2 - people I haven't seen since I was a child
3 - people that I have NO clue who they are or if they are even in our family LOL
We all sit around and talk and once everyone figures out who everyone is (at least most of them) we all go home!
I went to a friends reunion a long time ago and it was a 3 day "event" complete with t-shirts, games and bands...
How does your family do reunions?
The last time we had an actual reunion, my 9 y/o wasn't even born yet

Re: Family reunions... how is yours done?
We go to a local church for a potluck dinner and desserts. Good place since they have a gymnasium for the kidlettes to run and let off steam. That way the adults can catch up on the family gossip. Very boring to me.

Re: Family reunions... how is yours done?
My family has never had a reunion. I've offered to host one a time or two but no one seemed interested.

Ok now I'm jealous. I don't think we've EVER had a family reunion. Or if we did, I didn't know about it!
Insert cute phrase here

Re: Family reunions... how is yours done?
Mine are done UNDER EXTREME PROTEST! I HATE them.
I know, I know, but my family is WEIRD. One side is very well to do and SNOTTY and the other is, well, basically, Trash. You get them together and the snotty ones huddle to talk about the trashy ones, the trashy ones try talking to the snotty ones and when the snotty ones wont talk back, the trashyones huddle and talk about the snotty ones.
The snotty ones sure dont mind eating the "trashy" food, though. The snotty ones bring ONE can of corn in a pan for their whole family and the trashy ones bring enough food to feed three families.
It is held at my grandparent's house, under the pine trees, which is nice EXCEPT for the big pond right there. Now you cant talk to anyone for more than three seconds because a kid might jump in.(two of mine did, on seperate occasions). Somebody's feelings are always hurt because their SO is called by the wrong name(well, that was your SO LAST year) and so forth.
tljohn, you can come to my next one. Luckily it only lasts about 4-5 hours.
Ah hell, ALL yall can come. Shake things up a bit. Make the Snottys and the Trashys wonder who yall are.

Re: Family reunions... how is yours done?
My family lives within a ten minute drive so we have "reunions" all the freaking time LOL
I think for a big reunion it should be for huge families who hardly see each other. Otherwise, just a regular reunion with like a BBQ or something!

so you know what I do, I dont go...not worth all the fuss and drama IMO

Re: Family reunions... how is yours done?
We had only one & it was for my mom before she died about 7 yrs ago. Kinda like a last chance for everyone to say goodbye to my mom.
It was just an outside get together with BBQ food at my Aunts house.

Re: Family reunions... how is yours done?
We have had one family reunion and unfortunately I wasn't able to make it .. so I have no idea how it was done .. lol.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Distance and time may separate us but friendship and memories won't.
~When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure~
