Re: Are you smarter then a fifth grader?
This is the craziest thing. I have watched the show several times and I rarely get the answers. I agree that so much of the stuff we learned seemed unimportant. I took the test and made 85. I was not a good student. I was a terrible student. Yes I went back to college when I was 29 and graduated.
Now for the crazy part. My husband was a lawyer in the top 10% of his class. Yes I am bragging now. He had cryptococcus meningitis when he was 42 and was not able to return to work because of brain damage. He has now been diagnosed with Alzheimers. He can not go in the kitchen and fix a sandwiche unless I say the steps, get out the bread etc. He can not remember what he had for breakfast this morning but he took the test and made 100. Now how do you explain that? I would love comments on this. The brain is a strange thing.

Re: Are you smarter then a fifth grader?
you know, I just took this test and failed as well. I only got %55.
I took a couple other ones out there and man, some of them are freaking hard! Did I really know all this stuff in Fifth Grade?
As a general rule, don't solve puzzles that open portals to Hell.

I know that when my grandfather was struggling with Alzheimers, he couldn't remember anything from the past 20 years, maybe even more. But he could tell stories of what happened to him and his buddies during WWII as if it had happened only yesterday. I think it's just the part of the brain that Alzheimers effects. But your right, it is deffinately a strange thing.

Definitely the brain is strange! My grandmother had a stroke and after that only spoke in Polish. I didn't even know that she knew it! I am still amazed! Totally had me baffled!
