Thread: I've got fruit flies from Hell!! please tell me how to get rid of them! HELP!!

when we had them last summer, i put a flypaper strip on the vent hood of my stove before I went to bed at night. I left the hood light on and turn off all the other lights in the house. it took about a week, but that fianlly got rid of them

When I have had them in the past (and currently after reading this thread I went upstairs and found some hanging out in the sink! lol) I have always boiled a big pot of water and poored the boiling water down all the drains in the house. After that they are gone. Now sure why but this has always (knock on wood) for us in the past.

I have them too!! Weird how everybody here seems to have them. They are only in my kitchen. At least it isn't wasps or something else that stings. lol

i think i'll try the easiest first, the boiling water!
if that doesnt work i'll go to the vinegar cups or fly strips!

You might want to put boiling water down your drain every day or two, but it should do the trick. We get these sometimes where I work, a hospital kitchen, and the maintenance people call them drain flies. The flies themselves are very short lived, however they lay their eggs in the drains. It may take several times to kill the eggs they keep laying until they all die.
