Happy Mom - Update
Well my son's Science Fair was last night and unfortunately he was not a finalist. I am very proud of him making it to the competition. I took him out for Pizza after we went to see the exhibits. He's taking it well. Thanks for all your nice posts.

Re: Happy Mom - Update
Science fairs are awful! I'm sorry your son didn't advance, but I'm sure he did his best.
My happiest day was when my daughter advanced to a grade without the glory of science fairs. I swear, around here, they're for the parents. And I'm not that good in science. lol

Re: Happy Mom - Update
My daughter was in a jump rope competition when she was in 5th grade. She made it to the finals, but when we got there, there were hundreds of kids to compete against in her age catergory. She didn't come even close to what the top kids were getting in the finals and felt awful. But we just kept making a big deal out of her even making into to the finals, thats a huge accomplishment that only a few kids from her school got. Afetr thinking about that she felt much better. She took it better than some other kids, there were kids walking out of there in tears. I have tried to teach my kids to always do their best and be proud of their accomplishments no matter how small. They don't have to be perfect or be better than everyone else to have done their best and be proud and for me to be proud.
