Where Can I Download WindowsXP?
and is it legal? I can't find my disc to install in my laptop

Downloading itself probably isn't illegal, it's when you register it that the question would come into play.
XP is set up so you have to register online, and if they see a duplicate registration key, they deactivate the original somehow.
SO
If you already have a registration key, then maybe you could come up with a copy of the install cd somewhere, or borrow someones.

Contact the laptop manufacturer... and request a replacement restore cd... alot cheaper than forking over a hundred bucks for a new retail version.

Good luck getting a replacement. Even most manufacturers aren't gonna part with a copy for you. Can say if you you look long enough and hard enough you can probably find a hacked copy seeing how several folks manage to do it. And they manage to bypass the licensing stuff.
I work for a PC/Laptop repair center and we can't install XP or any other Operating System on a customers machine if they don't have there restore CD. Which thrills them to no end.
I know on my personally laptop has no restore CD's or OS recovery disk. All that info came loaded onto the hard drive that came with the machine (Winbook), which bites. But also means that most people if their hard drive dies would be a up a creek unless the order new hard drive through the Winbook folks. Decided that was an interesting racket they had going on,seeing how you can only get parts through them, but yet they WON'T sell parts to the public. Which would leave you with the only option of sending unit in for repair to them.

I have a HP (not laptop) and needed recovery discs for my PC and they cost $20 from HP .. just contact whoever makes your laptop and see if they can help you.
