    Question Public vs Private??

Just wondering what type of school do you send you child to? I have sent my son to a private school since pre school,up through this year 5th grade. Next year I am looking at a magnet school(math and science). Cant really afford private any more yet dont want him in a public school.

Just wondering what some other views are???

My son will be in public school next year. It's a great great school. There is only 1 private school, and no kids his age there.

My kids are out of school but when they went they went to public. We don't live in a big city and the school district we were in is actually one of the best public schools in this area. I think the only private schools in this area that I know of was cathlic school and a christian school. The christian school was really small which wouldn't have been a problem but it only went to 6th grade plus the biggest thing I couldn't afford it to send my kids. I'm not cathlic plus it is also expensive so that was out as well.

My two little boys go to public school. It is an awesome school system and I did alot of research before enrolling them. I went to private schools, including private boarding school. They are not all that.

Right now mine is homeschooled but will be going to public school next year.
I attended public school, wasnt the best ones either and I think one of the most valuable things I learned was not to judge a book by its cover.

Well his father grew up in a Christian school , I went to a public. So it was his father who pushed for a private/Christain school . I had no problem with it. I grew up with parents who taught in public and so did I and I saw all the problems with class size, lack of respect, discilpline problems, so I went with the smaller size class, the smaller ratio of child to teacher, and the christian education. My son also was ahead of his peers and got bored easliy so in a private school they didnt mind him doing other work or working at other grade levels. He has made staright As since K. But I can no longer afford private, his dad and I are no longer together, and he doesnt want to help me pay for it...so I am at a cross roads. Use his college $$ to pay for private school or put him into a public school that he is not use to???

    Re: Public vs Private??

My kids were in private until I put them in public. I hate the schools that they are in, (thats an entirely different topic lol) but the girls love public better than private. When we talked about sending them back to private next year, they both cried like 2 year olds.

If your son is excelerated his records should refelct that and the public schools will accomodate him just as much as a private school. My 7 y/o is in 2nd grade, but for the last half of the year has been doing 3rd grade work and going to 3rd grade math and reading classes.

Our 2 oldest girls were in public all their lives and they turned out just find.

I say, send him to public schools if you can't afford pvt anymore.. what good is a good private school education going to do him, if he can't afford to go to college?

If dad is unwilling to help out with the cost, I don't think you have much of a choice.
My kids have always gone to public schools, and they're doing great. The trick is to get involved with the school as much as you can. Get to know the teachers, the aides, heck-even the lunch ladies. Volunteer for something. It will pay off in the long run.
Good luck to you. He'll be fine.
