    Boo!

Ya'll miss me? I've been bizzy, bizzy, bizzy. And spending some time in a British car forum trying to get some insight on replacement parts/repairs for the B. And things are a little nuts about here, some illnesses, a couple deaths, a hubby driving me bonkers...you know, the normal!

So without further ado, since I'm online and here...might as well get back to my old stuff!

    How I spent my Sunday:

Went to Forest Park. One of my favorite places. But for a different reason today. And I hijacked my mother and daughter to go along.

The 2 year anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq war is this weekend. Went to an antiwar/peace rally. One at a time, we laid 1521 tombstones, one for each US soldier killed. On each tombstone was a soldier's name, as well as the name of an Iraqi civilian. Several speakers and pastors/rabbis from various faiths spoke, as well as a couple politians. Found it very fitting (and ironic) that they had a Muslim holy man giving a beautiful Islamic prayer.

Was very emotional. I cried through most of the service, beginning when the violin started playing Ashoken Farewell, all the way through taps at the end. Afterwards, I found the tombstone with gobs' son's name on it. Then I really lost it.

Placing and walking through 1521 tombstones, sure is a sobering experience.

I had to swallow hard when I read what you did today. I'd have been a sobbing, blubbering Mom of a soldier. That was interesting but sad that you got to see 'gobs' sons tombstone.

    (((nana)))

I just hope I don't have to go to this again next year. And I pray there aren't twice as many tombstones if I do.

me too. my son just got back from Iraq after being over there for 14 months and I tried to talk to him about Iraq and he said " mom, please I cant talk about it I am trying to forget what I saw over there" now to me that is sad coming from a kid that had to turn 21 in a place like that. keep up the good work. I know I dont want my son back over there but he is going to have too,

Welcome back Jaybird. I wondered where you had gone. I even did a few searches on your name to see if I had somehow missed you posting.
