Fashion Advice for Trip to L.A. (attending a fashion show)

I won a trip to L.A. and V.I.P. passes to a fashion show and after party. I live 1 mile from Kansas so I don't have a clue what to wear. It's next month for L.A.'s fashion week so I'd like something springy with a jacket/wrap but other than that I just don't have a clue. The lady I spoke with in LA said to wear something evening casual, something "funky". lmao Funky? It sounds like fun but I don't know what that'd be. (I even ran a search on Ebay for "funky") lol
Anyway I need some serious fashion help. I don't want to look like "somebody's mom" yet, I don't want to be asked "how much" either.

I'm underweight and 5'9 with no boobs and big feet if that helps. lol

I picked out a dress and it sort of got "voted off the island". I thought it was pretty but others said it was too much.

If you have a chance please post me some ideas, pictures, sites that would be appropriate. I would sooo appreciate it

That dress is beautiful! I'm sure it would be fine for an LA fashion show, or at least I think it would. LOL But hey, what do I know.... I'm in Ohio. LMAO!

It's a great dress! Buuuttt y'all are going to die but I would wear great jeans, a drop dead top with a jacket and strappy shoes. This is L A LOL go here and click on the links and you can see what the New Yorkers wore last week.
