    Remember the Tracey Thurman Story?

    from Lifetime (I think)

    http://www.wfsb.com/Global/story.asp...1&nav=1VGmUzlu

LITCHFIELD (AP) - He was born into a turbulent family that forever changed Connecticut domestic violence laws, and now he's headed to jail for domestic violence.

Charles Motusick, 23, will serve six-and-a-half years in jail for violating his probation and assaulting a local woman. Motusick's parents are Charles and Tracey Thurman.

In 1983, his father beat, stabbed and nearly killed Tracy Thurman. She won a $2 million lawsuit against the city of Torrington after a court found that police failed to protect her.

Motusick was only two years old when his mother was beaten.

Re: Remember the Tracey Thurman Story?

I remember that story. It was on Lifetime, and Nancy McKeon played Tracy Thurman. It was a really powerful story. That is sad. I hope they all get the help they need.

Edited: I also found other stories about him from 2002:
LITCHFIELD - A Litchfield Superior Court judge allowed Charles Motusick to have one more chance to stay out of jail Tuesday. Charles Motusick, 21, was ordered to successfully undergo an 18-month treatment program or face the possibility of spending 12 years behind bars.

"You must complete that program if you don't the court will expect you will be brought back here on another violation," Judge Alexandra DiPentima told Motusick. "I can only hope this is the last time I am saying this to you."

Motusick has served time before, for a larceny conviction and he's been on probation twice. When probation offices noticed his positive results from drug tests early this year, they made an unannounced visit to his house where they discovered a 9-mm semi-automatic handgun, a small amount of cocaine and a syringe.

Motusick pled guilty to criminal possession of a firearm and admitted to violating his probation on Tuesday. The gun charge calls for a maximum penalty of five years in jail and a $5,000 fine. Motusick's case was scheduled for Dec. 10, so the court could review the status of his rehabilitation.

"This is the first time we are looking at treatment for a serious substance abuse problem," Motusick's attorney, John Logan said following the hearing.

Motusick looked back at his mother, Tracey Thurman who sat in the gallery weeping for her son.

Motusick was only two years old when his mother was brutally beaten and stabbed by his father, Charles "Buck" Thurman in 1983.

For many years, Thurman advocated for changes in domestic violence laws and won a $2 million lawsuit against the City of Torrington after a court found the police failed to protect her when a restraining order had been filed against her husband.

Here is another one from 2002:
    11/09/2002
    Thurman's son sentenced
TRACY KENNEDY , Register Citizen Staff

LITCHFIELD - Charles Motusick stood before Judge Alexandra DiPentima on Friday, the day he was scheduled to be sentenced for possessing a handgun while on probation.
"You look wonderful Mr. Motusick," said the judge with a smile. "When I first came out, I said to myself, that can't be Mr. Motusick. There is something going on in your life that is working, and I hope you keep with it."

In the gallery sat Motusick's stepfather, and his mother, Tracey Thurman Motusick, who nodded her head and wept.

Tracey has sat in the courtroom many times in the past. The judicial process seems to always be on the fringes of her life, beginning in the 1980's, when her ex-husband, Charles "Buck" Thurman, was sentenced for brutally beating her nearly to death. The case received national attention when she won a $2.6 million verdict against the Torrington police, when federal judges decided that police failed to protect her when a they were aware of a restraining order. Thurman Motusick has been credited for sparking changes in domestic violence laws.

Her support of her son has been unwavering, the judge remarked.

Motusick has struggled with a substance abuse problem for many years, his attorney, John Logan explained. It was a failed drug test that prompted the probation department to drop by his house in January, where they discovered a 9-mm semi-automatic handgun, a small amount of cocaine and a syringe.

Motusick was jailed for a year of an eight-year suspended sentence in September 2000 and ordered to serve three years of probation, for reportedly stealing $22,000 in gambling proceeds from an ex-girlfriend's relative.

He has been residing in a Waterbury drug treatment facility for the last month, since pleading guilty to the gun possession charge. The court agreed to continue his probation as long as he successfully completes the substance abuse program and commits no more crimes during the six-years probation term.

If the 21-year-old stumbles, however, he faces serving 11 years in jail and six years of probation.

"You have to be very strong, be selective and think about your family," the judge said, before Motusick left the courtroom.

    very sad indeed.

Some people are born with a brain malfunction and now they can see it with brain scans.

Dr. Phil has had experts on brain functions on his show. One man was very wild and craved danger while his brother was quiet and never broke the law. Some people's brains are wired for high levels of action and get into trouble fast. Thankfully counseling and meds can help now.

Still no excuse to hurt others. They could become race drivers or jump out of planes. Turn that over-activity into something positive.

wonder if this proves that no matter how young a kid is, if they witness stuff like that, are they more likely to abuse. I think so!!! I feel so bad for him!! Wonder if he ever had counseling over the years

    UPDATE ON TRACY THURMAN!!!!

I did some research and found out that Tracey Thurman has gotten married and her name is now Tracey Motuzick. She refuses to show her face because she does not want Charles Thurman to find her. To this day she is still scared. I found the info on this website. It is a photographers website and he took a picture of her hands holding the picture of herself when she was badly beatened in the hospital. But she will not allow the photgrapher to show her face. Here is the link to the photo. This was taken in May 2008.
Also below the link is the old picture of her after the attack. I can see why Nancy McKeon was casted for the role. They look alike a little.
