Re: How do you spell Momma/Mama?
I've lived in SC,LA,MS,NC and GA. I've always spelled it Mama. And I still say yes mam and yes sir at 41. I suppose it's something I'll always do.

Re: How do you spell Momma/Mama?
I don't spell it either, since I call my mom "Om". It started in high school when I wanted to get her attention and all mom's would look when I said Mom. So I took off the first m and started calling her Om. And no, she doesn't care, she has even taken to signing her emails to me Om. lol.

Re: How do you spell Momma/Mama?
To an infant, I would SAY Ma Ma - but I would NEVER write that!
If I could only choose between your two choices it would be Momma.
For my DD's grandparents, we spell it the way it is lovingly said - paternal grandparents are Grandma & Grandpa, paternal great grandmother is Grams, maternal grandparents are Grammy & Big Daddy (from day one my DD started calling my Dad that & it just stuck. LOL! We thought he would be Grampy).
My maternal grandparents were Memere & Pepere & my paternal grandparents were Grandma & Grandpa.
I hate the "yes Mam" stuff. It sounds so insulting because it insinuates (sp?) that the person being spoken too is OOOld (like a 90 year old grandmother).
When someone says "yes Mam" to me I always say I am much too young to be a "Mam" (I am only 33!). Around here, we say "yes Miss or Mr. (insert first name here)" or "yes, Ms. or Mrs. or Mr. (insert last name here) to show respect.
edited to add I call my Mother - Mom.
