Anyone out there ever taken Lipitor, and had side effects? - Big Big Forums

Would you please share with me what side effects you expierenced? I have been having terrible pain in both legs, it feels like my muscles are shrinking.(I forgot to mention I have been on Lipitur a little over a year) My DR prescribed Elavil because it helps with neurosensors in the legs. I started at 10 mg and am now @ 50mg with no relief. My Mom told me to look at Lipitor.com at the side effects, because she saw a commercial on TV about Lipitor and it stated to report any muscle pain to your DR. Well the website does list muscle constriction as a side effect. I called my MD on Monday, he said to stop taking the Lipitor and to call back in 2 days if there was no improvement. Last night while bathing I found huge egg shaped knots on the backs of my knees. This morning there were knots on the front of my knees, My DR wanted me to have some STAT bloodwork...CBC, Liver enzymes, and Sed rate. The first 2 tests I am familiar with, but have no idea what a SED rate is. I also know that Lipitor could effect my liver, but I just had the lab tests about 5 weeks ago and am already have the bloodwork set up to repeat on May 17. Would anyone consider sharing their expierence or even let me know what a Sed rate tests for? I would appreciate any and all responses.

My husband took it and quit cause he said his joints hurt so bad. He now is taking Pravocal (sp) his colestriol (sp) is down to 171 and he doesn't complain about the aches. Hope and Praying you feel better soon.

I have been taking Lipitor for about 8 months, and when I first started taking it, I had the most terrible pain in my shoulders. On my first trip to the doctor for my testing, my cholestrol had almost hit bottom, so my doctor told me to start taking a half of a pill. After reducing my dossage, my pains stopped. I have two friends that have been on Lipitor and had to stop due to the pains also. Hope everything gets better for you!

My hubby's best friend was on it for about a year and he lost all control in his muscles, MOST of it came back but he still has a lot of problems. I'm not sure if he is taking anything different now but all I know is he said he had nothing but pain when he was taking that and would never recommend that to anyone.

My aunt quit it for the same reason. She had terrible back and leg pain. A co worker quit it for the same reason. I have never took it, I take Zorcar. I had problems with the Pravacol and so did my dad. We were both put on Zorcar which works well for me. My cholesteral count went from 316 to 250 on it. I am due for more blood work soon to see if the count has went down more.

Thank you to each and everyone who replied. I knew the people here would not let me down. I am still waiting on lab results. Hope I hear something soon.
