Talking I am soo cheap that.........

This is not meant to offend anyone, I just thought it would be fun since we all love to save $$$ here to start this kind of thread. I also thought a lot of you probably have some pretty great ideas that I could borrow. Also want to hear the most extreme ones. So I'll go first.

I am so cheap that when I have lotion that comes in a tube and I have squeezed out all I can, I cut the tube open so I can stick my fingers in to scrape the sides. I usually get 2 extra days out of it this way!!! LOL

    Your turn!

    I am so cheap that.....

I boil toothpaste tubes when they are almost empty to get the toothpaste to the end LOL

When my girls out grow their thick winter tights, i cut the feet off and let them wear them as leggings (with long shirts)

I am one of those people that go around at christmas/birthday parties and collect the wrapping paper and gift bags.

I have not had a professional hair cut in over 11 years!

I reuse dryer sheets and make my own fabric softener

I don't do this on a regular basis, but i have been known to add a little water to the milk to make it last longer LOL I have only really done that when there is not enough milk for both girls to have breakfast and I can't get to the store.

I AM cheap and I admit it! LOL I can't force myself to go to a store and pay $8 or $10 for a new shirt when I know I can go to a thrift store and get one for a dollar or two. I don't even remember when the last time I have bought "new" clothes!

    LOL. Great thread...

I am so cheap that this semester I deliberately changed English courses because the original course required THREE $80 textbooks. The teacher I switched to (same course) only required ONE textbook which I already had from the previous semester. LOL, my family made fun of me but that was a few hundred dollars ;-)

I add water to the ketchup bottle when it's almost out. My dad always picked me up to go to the thrift store on senior citizens day, his idea ot mine.

My dad was super cheap, but I guess with 8 kids you pretty much have to be.

    Talking LOL

Thanks for all the replies. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only cheap one!!! LOL

I am interested in how exactly boiling the toothpaste works??

And how do you make fabric softener??

A lady in the grocery store once told me she used baby lotion on her face bacause its gentle enough and a lot cheaper then oil of olay. I thought the baby lotion would be too heavy. Anyone ever try that??

For fabric softener, I put a small drop of hair conditioner on a used (lol) dryer sheet and rub it in real good and toss it into the dryer.

I boil the toothpaste because it softens the toothpaste more than it alreayd is, and its eaiser to get to the bottom.

I admit that I also use the baby lotion BUT I add some water to it so its not so thick. My mom uses it as well, but she dosen't water it down. I have oily skin anyhow and straight baby lotion make me feel like an oil spill! LOL

I go to garage sales. Now in cold weather there isn't any. You can get into trouble at them though by buying too much cause things are so cheap but I have turned around and sold things at my sale for a profit.

Ok, I am getting bad with this one. On Panera Bread's receipt they have a web site you can go to and take a survey on how they are doing. Then you get a number and a dollar off the next time you eat there. Well I puruse the tables for receipts after the people have left and before the clerk comes around to clean off the tables. I usually get one more recript and with the two I get for my dinner I can have three dollars or more off the next time I eat there. I have been tempted to dig in the trash can for more but I know my hubby would leave me there out of embarresment. LOL

I do the senior discounts with my mother. Kohl's has it on Wed. but not all the time. You have to watch the paper for the announcement. But hey I'm getting at the senior discount so I won't need to take anyone. LOL anyone want to take me???

Last night we ate at Quizno's for a buck 98 cause I used up my punch card and they sent a two dollar off coupon in the paper for a regular sandwich. I put them together. Got 5 dollars off for using up my card and 2 dollars for the card they sent with the paper. Oh, I would have looked in the trash if my mother still lived in an assisted living place. I would go get the papers by the trash cans if there was a good coupon in it that week. I've also found really neat trash things at the assisted living center like neat baskets a flower arrangement came in and it was thrown away after the older person didn't want it.

Now when I go see my FIL at the care home I go get a free pumpkin spice drink at their cappachino machine. You can get hot chocolate or the pumpkin spice drink. If I was there all day I would drink them too much. Same where my mother is. They also have juices and coffee.

Janelle, do you live in CA? I was just wondering because of the garage sales. I guess they're called other things in other places. Plus this is about the only time of the year, at least in So Cal, where there aren't too many of them.
