    Do you recycle?

Ok I'm bored tonight so bear with me. I was just curious how many of you recycle? We have a Wal-mart nearby that takes almost everything, which is really great! I recycle plastic, newspapers, tin cans, glass, cardboard, and chipboard which is cereal boxes, mac-n-cheese boxes, etc. We recycle aluminum cans too, but we save those for my son's school. They have about 3 can drives a year and they use the money to buy musical instruments for the school. It works out really great and they usually make around $300 a year! Great way to help the environment and the school at the same time.

Oh and my son is also into recycling. Whenever we go for a walk or to a school ballgame or something, he always picks up cans and gatorade bottles and stuff and sticks them in the stroller or a bag to take home to recycle. He takes it very serious to do his part to help save the Earth.

our community has a recycling program. 1 week they pick up paper and cardboard. The next, they pick up cans and plastic. Then back to paper the next week. They (the city) supplies the bins. Just put out the correct bins on your trash day. It's a great program, saves on trash bags too.

We have a program muchlike Twinkiesmom and it's pretty simple although I have been known to cheat on a rainy or snowy night and toss a can or two into the regular trash (shhhhhhh)

I do recycle cans..right now we are collecting them for cub scouts..but before my son started cub scouts, we bagged them up and gave them to my next door neighbor, everytime we had a full bag.. There used to be a newspaper recycling bin next to the golf course I used to live by..just drive up and dump in your papers. We used to recycle papers, but after moving to this little town all i get is 1 paper a week (just for coupons).

They have bins at the local Fire Dept. They take newspapers, tin and alum cans glass and cardboard. I return extra grocery sacks to the market also.

We have recycle pick-up on the same day as trash pick-up (two different trucks come by). I do cans, glass & plastic bottles/containers, papers and cardboard mostly. Its amazing how much less trash we have, used to have 3-4 bags, now only 1.
Now, pop & beer cans always go back to the store. I hate to feed them into those counting machines, but here in Michigan, we have 10 cent deposit and it's not unusal to have $20-30 when I finally get around to returning them. When my married kids come home to visit from their no-deposit states, I have to fish the cans out of the waste basket....lol
I'm sure everything I can't find is in a safe secure place, somewhere.

I recycle everything that our city's program will take. They provide us with the bins, so I keep two in the laundry room (they ask that you put paper and cardboard in one and glass, cans and plastic in another).

One thing I've noticed about the various towns I've lived in, college/university towns seem to have the best recycling programs. I drove by a row of fraternity houses the other day on recycling pickup day and saw several bins nearly overflowing with empty beer cans and bottles. I suspect that's how the programs make a lot of their money, lol!

Not as much as we should. When I lived in Oregon, our city had an excellent recycling program. They provided the bins and you got a fairly decent discount off of your trash bill if you recycled. Here, they charge us extra to recycle, so not as many people do it. They can't figure out how to get more people to participate. Duh!
