If You are going to uninstall the program, first transfer all of your songs(mp3) to a new file so you wont lose them.
My "Share" file is empty - everytime I download a song I immediatly transfer it to my other file that isn't being shared. (I feel kinda bad about doing that, but I am to paranoid not to right now)
Also, if you are not going to uninstall make sure you have only indicated a specific file for sharing otherwise it is possible that people have access to everything in your computer. (learned that the hard way).

I was told by a computer techie to move all the files out of the shared folder and put into another one. Also, in your profile check to see if people can share from you. There is a place where you can check off that you don't want people sharing your files.
