How much are your kids school supplies??

Just wondering what everyone has to spend on school supplies. I price checked the other day and found that we will have to spend $70 just on the supplies. Arghhh. The problem is that we have WalMart here and thats it. We don't have anything else and other stores are 3 and a half hours away. The backpacks alone will cost us $35. My oldest has had a heavy backpack so I am buying her one with rolling wheels and they are $20 here for the cheapest one. My other daughters will be $15. Then one of them needs a good zippereed binder and they were $9. So this stuff adds up. Just curious what everyone else is spending.

gosh i haven't added it up yet, i am broke. but i have one entering kindergarden and one entering pre-school. they both need back packs. the pre-schooler doesn't need anything but her back pack and clothes to wear. she will need some shoes she can put on her self(velcro)

my son needs a ton of stuff, so many boxes of klenex and this and that and they are so paticular , you can't just buy the cheapest pair of sissor or bottle of glue because they want it to be a certain brand and type. i know wal*mart has a incredible hulk back pack that comes with a lunch bag, that is what he's getting because it is cheap too, like $8.00 or something. i really need to find his list and get shopping. my daughter still needs her physical and shots and they both need thier dental examination. open house is at the end of the month for him, don't know when hers is. and they both start september 2cd.

I think I spent around $5 on my youngest sons supplies. My mother bought his backpack so I didnt have to pay for that. She also bought my oldest sons supplies for around $5.(or so she said)

I figure we will get a BIG OL' LIST on the first day of school of things they "forgot" to ask for.

I didn't have to spend too much this year because we still had some stuff left over from last year. I spent about $30 this time. I usually end up spending about $60 or so. He's gonna use the same backpack since his is still good. He's not taking a lunch every day this year, so we didn't need a new lunch box. I hate how they request certain brands on things too. Its hard enough to fight the people in the store to even get down the isle, let along try and find the same brand that every one else needs.

I got a Wal-Mart sales paper in the mail yesterday and they are having a pretty good sale this week. Freds is too if you have one in your area.

I've got one in kindergarten and one in second grade and so far I've spent around $75. I've yet to get my youngest's pre-k list.

i'm going to hit wal*mart and big lots, also the dollar stores. i know i will be forced to buy certain high priced items because of the brand and type, but atleast i can get some things cheap. i have to get all my luandry done and see what clothes they have, hopefully i won't have to get too many, but they have a great thrift store a few towns over , you can get a whole garbage bag filled and your bill is only $12.00 - $20.00 depending on the age of the child because the baby stuff is dirt cheap but adult stuff is a bit more, still really cheap though. i just went to my son's school website to see if his school supply list happened to be there but it wasn't but there was a e-mail address for the secratary so i e-mailed her for it. time is really running out.
i'm kinda excited about school starting because i'll get some time alone with the baby. ofcorse my daughter will only be in pre-school for like 4 hours. but my son will be in kindergarden all day everyday, and the principle said all there kindergardeners learn to read by years end! that is so neat.

spent about $20 on the pre-school so, will spend about $30 on the second grader. Both seem cheap compared to the $600 I spent on the college freshman getting dorm room stuff together and will still have to plop down another $100-$200 on move in day.

I prebought supplies for this year from the PTO at the end of last year. it definitely comes out cheaper and i don't have the hassle of going to usually 3 different stores, at least, to get everything on the lists.

Total was $77 or $78 for both a first grader and third grader. The lists are posted on the district website at:
    http://www.katyisd.org/schools/supply_list/WE.pdf

just some clothes and maybe backpacks...i don't think new backpacks or lunchboxes are needed. so probably just new clothes.

Target here had awesome deals. Notebooks 10 for $1.00, crayons .38, rulers .29, glue sticks 6 for 1.59, binders for 3.99, lead pencils 2 pks for 3.00. I got them a ton of stuff for $30 all I have left is backpacks and we will look for those at the outlets when we go on vacation this week.

I wish we had good thrift stores here for clothes. My oldest is hard to clothe as she is thin but has long legs. I can't buy her pants anywhere but at the western store. Which is fine because I like the way they look on her but it would be nice to have a variety or get stuff on sell. I won't be buying clothes until September some time because I don't want them growing out of them and it is still too warm. So I have some time there. I will have to check out my dollar store to see if they have wheeled backpacks for less than $20.
