Awesome Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

These make awesome cookies, better than Toll House. They are soft and do not flatten out! You can add what you want. I did not add the nuts as I prefer my cookies without them. My second batch I added peanut butter chips which were great!

2/3 cup butter flavored shortening (I have been using regular shortening as I do not keep butter flavored in my house and it still came out good)
2/3 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
3.5 cups of flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream the first four ingredients. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. Combine flour, soda, and salt and stir into creamed mixture. Stir in pecans and chocolate chips. Make rounded balls (but do not actually roll them in your hands. I just got a spoonful and rounded them a bit). Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until cookies are set and very lightly browned. Don't overbake or they will be hard. Cool 1-2 minutes before removing from cookie sheet to cookie rack. Leave on cookie rack for 2-3 minutes.
I get four bakers dozen out of this recipe.

How dare you post about chocolate chip cookies when all I've been eating is salad for the past two days. lol I always have a problem with flat cookies too. I'm not sure why it happens.

I think one reason for that is if you don't let the cookie sheet cool before you put more cookie dough on it

You're all welcome. These will go quickly! My husband was given one to try and then he came and got two more, then three more. Ummm these are good, lol. Our boarder takes them for breakfast and after dinner. I made 2 dozen and they were gone in a day.
