I couldn't wait to get home to tell you all..
I am so happy, we got our very first puppy today. She is a pure white American Eskimo. We named her Paloma, she is sleeping now and the kids helped pick her out. SHe had a tumor in one of her eyes and the kennel said nobody wanted her for that reason, well we did. I am so excited, nervous and all that. She was born June 15. We already have fallen in love with her.
If you all have any advice on kids and puppies..I am all ears.

She sounds just beautiful! you will have to show a picture of her :-)
Just one piece of advice I have for you if your children are small and not use to being around dogs. Teach them right off the bat how to hold and handle the dog. Tell them that dogs will bite out of instinct if their tails & ears are pulled. Teach them the right way to pick the puppy up so it doesn't hurt him....
that way no one gets hurt.NEW ! => ISO LIST! please L@@K and see if you have something I need.

Good luck with Paloma Of course don't let the kidlettes be mean or tease Paloma in any way, shape, or form. That breed is very loyal and will protect your whole family. She will probably have a family favorite. Most dogs do. I trained our 10 yr. old Panda but she goes to Daddy first. He spoiled her with Milkbone cookies......

The kids are doing good with her so far, my 18 month old still doesn't realize that he can't pick her up. SHe is so playful and I am so excited to have her in our family...pics on the way.
