My dot has an apartment - finally. She's looking to furnish it-living room especially-with the contemporary retro look. They have ZERO anything for the living room.

If anyone has anything - sofa, loveseat, chairs, tables etc - that is taking up space or you are wanting to get rid of/sell, please let me know. Looking to buy nice stuff on a starving med student budget!

I have some lamps and a coffee table. I also have one of those chrome kitchen tables from the 60's.

And might you be interested in getting rid of it? If you could get a pic, I can let Sarah (& Shanna) look at it. My sil has one of those chrome kitchen sets in her basement, holding Xmas decorations, but I doubt if I can talk her out of it because she's tight. Nevermind I gave her oldest son an entire LR set w/ lamps and tables when he got married at 18...

I know you need 'cheap' but have you tried "Gringo's" by Botanical gardens? Some of their things you can get cheaply...just a neat store to go to in general.

I have a couple of 60's retro pieces, but I can't part with them!
Also, Weekends Only may get some retroeey stuff in at times. Just need to go on Fridays and look around.

We're going to try to do that, Weekends Only, Value City Furniture, a couple resale shops on S. Grand and S. Broadway. Shanna's mom found a red, retro sofa at Rothman's Clearance Outlet, but it's $550. I told her that was $500 more than Sarah could spend, but she was more than free to buy it for them as a house-warming gift!

Gringo's. Is it on S. Grand too? I'll add that to our list. We won't get anywhere this weekend, Sarah has a HUGE cell test on Monday and I'm giving a wedding reception for my sis & 100 guests on Sunday. I will be cooking, cooking, cooking tonight & all day tomorrow. BUT, maybe I can get to Gringo's sometime tomorrow afternoon if things go well tonight!

Not sure of the street, but if it's next to the gardens, that it! They will have mostly chairs and things to accesorize with.. Valu City would be good to check out also. They have some very cool things for cheap.

I'm going out to Weekends Only tonight. I'll post if I see anything 'retro.' Some times they do have a few couches that look retro. I bought my last couch from them for $400 and I should have bought two because that's what I'm looking for tonight and a recliner!

Yep..it's just sitting in my basement. Hubby likes the table though..he thinks we're going to use it when our kitchen is done.

Thanks Misty. I knew about TFA - but couldn't find anything on Gringo's. Karen's already wrinkled her nose up about thrift shops and resale shops (Sarah's roomie's mom) So I politely (since I'm a polite sort of person) that if she was 1) paying their rent 2) living with them 3) buying the furniture she could do whatever she wanted. But if not, butt out because both survive on tips and student loans.
