How many bedtime stories do you read your kids? My son always picks 2 books but then begs for more. I don't think he really wants to hear another story he just wants to stay up later.
My older two get to each pick a short book -or- a chapter from a 'big' book ( we have read Farmer Boy from the "Little House" series; right now it is one of the 'Captain Underpants'... ) It is a privelge which can be taken away if they don't mind.
Yes - he is prob. wanting you to stay and read to push back bedtime and get your undivided attention. Set your goal/limit and then say "Good-night"

My kids each get to pick one book, dh reads to one, I read to the other usually, when dh works nights they have to agree on one. Or sometimes they just want one of my *make it up on the spot* stories.
