Our trip To See Hubby in Germany
well I have been back for a week but I have been busy so here goes. I loved Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The houses are all full of flower boxes and paintings on the sides that are simply gorgeous. We did have a major culture shock tho. No ice water or even tap water, dogs everywhere even in the restaurants but they are so well minded. The beer was great!!!! Mountains right there near town so everywhere you look you see them. We travelled to Innsbruck Austria OMG it is wonderful saw most of the old sites, churches palaces etc. Back in Germany we saw the Nueschwanstein Castle (disney castle) Linderhoff Castle and Munich got to see the Glockenspiel (tower with a carrillion that turns) the Monastery at Ettal and I bought a blessed medal. A lot of little towns nearby. We went to Italy and saw an 800 yr old castle and went shopping in Vipitino. I got a cute leather backpack purse for $16.00!!!!! We also went to Venice. I wouldnt go back. It was ok but so crowded and rude people. Stinky smell and the lines to get in to sites were unbelievable. We did take a gondola ride. I tried to get the guy to sing "Oh SO LA MIO" but no luck so another gal on our tour and I sang it OMG it was too funny we didnt know the words so we added CHEF BOYARR DIO instead. SHe was a hoot. I ate a cannolli and havent had a good one since I lived in St Louis on the HILL. Better than sex believe me. DS Had a blast feeding the pigeons they were all over him and one landed on top of my head and he laughed his head off. We rode some kind of cart ride down the side of the mountain in Germany. Of course I went full blast and scared my son to death. The only problems we had was that I took my in-laws with us and that is a whole story in itself that I would need to put in vent whine. Their idea of a vacation is relaxing in a room reading magazines or setting in an outdoor cafe drinking wine all day. We had so many fights I lost count so we finally deciced to go on our own and ditch them. All his mom did was complain. It was great to see Hubby again only it is now worse than before. We didnt want to come home and now we miss him worse. Son didnt cry when he left the first time but this time he cried his eyes out. Tore me up. I have decided if there is a chance that he will be deployed another 6 months over there that we are going to go back and stay... I am sure I can work doing the guys cooking since they do there own plus iron their uniforms and all. hee hee. SOn could go to school on a military base there. I bought some Birkenstock sandals for $10.00, a few lace doilies for $1.00 a piece a cutwork tablecloth for $10.00 and hubby sent me my white nurses Birkenstock shoes I bought for $35.00 they are $104 in the USA. I would love to have more lace stuff tho. Thanks to all who thought of my and wished us well.
