Muskrat Love, or was it a Beaver or an Otter?
You're not gonna believe this one folks... Hubby is still shaking his head over this. We had to make an emergency trip to Kroger's which was a disaster but that's another story... anyways, we're driving along and as we get ready to turn into the shopping center, he points out a BEAVER! In the middle of the road! This road is fairly steady with traffic and people fly down this road... Apparently on the other side of the road is a lil creek... and this lil gal/guy got lost- or was shopping at Krogers... LOL! Anyway he's in the middle of the road... and I'm like "Dude! He's gonna get hurt... you've gotta help him..." and he's like "What the hell are you saying..." and I'm like "Stop traffic... I want to go get him..." "Go get him?! Are you nuts?" Me: "Yes, now let me out..." Hubby: "Hell no, he'll manage..." and up the road we go... then Hubby spots a Policeman... So I make him drive over... and I say "Sir, this is gonna sound stupid but there's a beaver in the road and he's blocking traffic." At this point the Cop starts laughing...and says "Are you sure it's not a muskrat? Or a GroundHog? I used to get paid $500 a month to trap them..." and then he smirks. "No, sir, it's a beaver or a river otter... and he's blocking traffic." "What do you mean he's blocking traffic?" "Well, he gets scared and stops and so people stop so they won't hit him..." So the Cop goes down and stops traffic and makes the lil thing walk across the road. I am so proud! I love those lil critters.
Tim called his mom and she died laughing...

HAHA--GOOD one!!! I applaud you!!
Years ago, I stopped for a turtle and was actually going to pick it up and move it so it would not get hit. Well, for SOME reason, I decided at the last moment, maybe I should use my umbrella and sort of prod him gently along...WHOAAAAAAAAH!!!! Turns out is was a SNAPPING turtle!!!!!! YIKES
Well, he DID snap--right onto the tip of my umbrella and latched on ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE ROAD!!! I took him down an embankment to a little creek and he happily dropped off my umbrella and scurried (as fast as a turtle can scurry!) into the underbrush.
My girls still laugh about that to this day!

Those are the cutest little things! =) I always wanted one as a pet when I was a kid... Of course I don't think it would have been legal, or especially humane to keep one in a bathtub... Not to mention how bad it would be to take a bath with the otter! LOL

I LOVE Otters!
Ya know, I love otters so much that when I found out that Bays Mountain was having trouble with their Otters- 2 of them were picking on a lil girl Otter and they were going to have to move her to another location... I told one of my former friends on line about it and we worked with one of the Colorado Zoo's to get her relocated there.
I'd love to own one myself! On the honeymoon, we went to the Virginia Marine Science Museum and of the 3 hours there, 1 and 1/2 was watching the otters.

Well I wasn't so lucky. I saw a turtle crossing a busy street where a little pond was. I went around the block to see if I could take it across the street before it got hit by a car.
When I got to the street a bunch of cars were coming and I couldn't stop them. Well one car hit it---splat all over. Poor thing, he would put his head down when a car went over him like what was that but didn't know about the danger just kept on going on until the one car splattered him. It was quick anyway.
