Question Does anyone know anything about tulips? Need help ASAP!

Ok my tulips are coming up, they are about 2-3 inches tall right now. My problem is that we are going to have some REALLY cold temps starting tomorrow night. The lows are suppose to be around 12-15 degrees. How do I protect my tulips from the freeze? I just started them last year and I dont want to lose them so soon

Ooh I also have a tulip tree that is starting to bud out, it is about 8 ft tall now, anything I can do to protect it too?

Thanks

You can also put glass jars upside down over the tulip sprigs. This sorta acts as a mini greenhouse. The glass holds the heat in, believe it or not. As for your tree, I always put sheets over mine, but if it gets really cold and stays there, theyre prolly gonna get bit back.

My daffodils and crocus's are just BEAUTIFUL and its supposed to snow here tomorrow.BLECH!!

We have an azalea festival at the begining of April. Unfortunately because of the warm weather the azalea's are blooming now and there's no way to stop it. If you can cover them with sheets and towels. Or the glass bottles was a great idea.

Sometimes nature is just messed up.

If You put mulch or jars oover them and it goes warm again

and you don't get out there quick, you will burn them up! If their not to hi a sheet or news paper is best.

My tulips are up about 5 or 6" and it's getting down to 10 degrees tonight, 2-4" of snow. I've already covered them with mulch, to the very tips. My rhubarb's up, my mums are also growing, my roses are growing, and 2 ornamental trees are budding out! I'm covering EVERYTHING tonight and tomorrow night. Buckets, flowerpots, plastic, even newspaper...anything you have that will keep snow/frost off the plants will work. Remember to 'weight' it down if you use paper or plastic IF it's windy! AND remember to UNcover everything if it's sunny, because even if it's cold, the sun will warm the plants and the air under the containers.

Another easy way to make a mini greenhouse is to cut the bottom off of 2 liter bottles and place them over the plant, then when it is hot you unscrew the cap to let air in and keep them from burning up.

Hubby gave me tulips for Valentines and they are starting to die ! I don't understand why, it said on the pot that they like sun so I put them in a window. I've been watering them too, but they are turning yellow. On the side of the pot, it also said that after they bloom you're supposed to pull the blooms off or something like that. Well, I don't understand how to do that. Is that why my beautiful plant is dying? Do I just cut off the flower, do I cut it at the bottom of the stem with the bloom, what do I do? I don't want it to die, this is the first flower he's ever bought me in the 8 years that I've known him! Also, can I plant it outside when it warms up since they are blooming now or do I have to wait until fall? One last question, I have some old tulip bulbs that I never planted from a couple of years ago, are they still good and can I plant them now or do I have to wait until fall?
