Whats good to put on burns?

Friday night I burned my arm pretty bad getting dinner out of the oven. Its a decent size burn about 3 inches by 1 inch and its on my forearm so its a sensitive area. I really didn't think it was that bad at the time, but now its starting to blister and I just tore part of it when I picked up DD.(sorry so gross) What can I put on it? Any home remedies. I have been keeping it uncovered, but should I cover it up? Any help is appreciated....Thanks

    BTW, just call me clumsy!!LOL

    you need

aloe vera, do you have the plant or maybe
    a neighbor has one?
do not put the lotion kind, any kind of lotion
traps in the "heat" of the burn- to relive pain
    take a tylenol.
and I think you can make a paste of baking soda
and a little water and paste it on before
sleeping and that draws the pain out.
but I know the aloe vera plant will work.
If it is all open you need antibiotic cream
after a few days,(when the heat is gone)
    or it might get infected.
sorry you are burned, it hurts, I know.
when it first happened, any frozen veggie from
the freezer would have helped.(I think peas
    are best)

If you have any A and D ointment, (if you have kids, a lot of people use it for diaper rash), that always worked well for me. It forms a protective coating over the burn.

Aloe Vera is the best...but if you don't have it...Break open a vitamin E capsule and squeeze the liquid on the burn spot, do it frequently.

When my son was young he spilled a pan of boiling water on his legs and feet. I got his jeans off quick and put ice on first, then the aloe vera...but we didn't think about his shoes right away and when he took them off these huge blisters just popped up. I won't go into the gross stuff but several times a day I put vitaminE on both his legs and feet and he has absolutely NO trace of scaring anyplace. Even the doctor was amazed, as he thought he might have to have some skin grafting on his legs.

I used to work at a restuarant and one of the things we would use on a burn is mayonaise.

When I was younger I got a really bad sunburn on my legs one time and the doctor said to use neosporin. I put it on over the blisters and it healed up in a couple of days.

I have desitin & it even says on it that it is good for burns. Its the zinc oxide, and I think that's the same thing in A&D, so that should help. And neosporin will help too. I just finally got rid of a nasty burn on my thumb, right on the knuckle, from my oven!
