Question a question for all the bbs parents....

At what age did your kids get their adult teeth?

The reason for this question is that today my 5 year old son had oral surgery. They removed 5 teeth. this means he now is missing 6 teeth on the top and 3 teeth on the bottom. He has been missing the other 4 teeth since he was 15 months old, when they originally took them out for decay. The reason for decay is unknown, partially medicine he was on for his illnesses and lack of flouride in our water. the dentist said that adult teeth coming in depends on the child and what a higher power has in store. So, being the over-protected parent that I am, I was wondering around what age to expect the new teeth. I know from past experience that my son is very flexible he adjusts rather quickly and learns to deal with whatever is handed him. He already is a picky eater so that will be nothing new. And already after 4 hours of being home from the hospital he is attempting eating his favorite green beans.

Thanks!!!!!!!

My son had ALL of his baby teeth pulled when he was about 15mo.He's 7 1/2 now and he's got 12 TEETH now...The dentist says they are coming in fine now...He has to go back in Jan. to have them cleaned and to be fitted with a spacer to make sure they come in strait...
I'm glad he's got this many teeth now...When he was a toddler people would ask me if the dentist would give him "false teeth".Now I THINK THAT IS CRAZY!!
Oh and my son would eat anything you put in front of him!!He's got tough gums now,but not tough to the point of his new teeth won't come thru... And a big, fat, long nosy tongue!! That's what his dentist tells him!!

Thank you one and all....

Thanks for answering my question. I am so glad to hear I am not tha only parent who has dealt with this problem. He is doing better today I think, but his speech is messed up and he is still having nausa from the anasthesia. He will have to learn to talk again. It's ok though b/c we have had to do this each time he broke a partial bridge.
FrootLoop- does your son have a speech problem now? when they first took my sons top 4 teeth before he could talk the dentist told us the bridge would prevent a speech problem later on when he learned to talk. Now this new dentist has told us that he won't be getting a partial. So....how does your son handle it?
Ravenlost- so nice to hear from you. It has been awhile. And thank you I will definetely hug him an extra time for you. You and your daughter are so sweet.
doradaniels- wow really 13???? Ugh!!!!!! I hope it is sooner.
loveshild- there is no way we are waiting till he is that old to get these teeth. I refuse to wait that long. that is too many apples to have to cut up for him to eat. LOL

My boys started losing theirs around five or six, I believe. My oldest is now nearly fifteen and I think he has all of his permanent teeth. My youngest is twelve and has just started losing his back teeth in the last couple of months.

usedtirewife,no my son doesen't have a speech problem he has a slobbering problem!!In all seriousness,he drools ALOT!!The dentist says that some people produce more saliva than others but he's almost 8 and he drools more now than when he was a baby teething!!
I was very concerned about a speech problem but I don't think missing teeth affect speech as much as a hearing problem does...His S's needed some work but as soon as he got his front teeth in they started sounding like an S.
Don't worry too much about it...It will all work out,and he will get his teeth as soon if not sooner than the other kids!
If you want to talk just put yahoo on the end of my name!!
