O.K., I HAD TO GO AND DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE I ACTUALLY POSTED THESE SO I KNEW I GOT IT RIGHT.:
SOME PEOLE THINK THERE ARE EARTHWORMS IN HOTDOGS AND SOME OTHER MEATS SODIUM EARTHOBATE, THIS IS NOT TRUE AND THAT IS NOT THE CORRECT SPELLING, BUT HERE IS WAHT YOU ARE EATING:
INTESTINES,EXCESS MEAT, TRIM MEAT,OTHERWISE UN-USEABLE PARTS, FILLERS, OTHER POSSIBLE ANIMAL ADDITIVES.
EARTHWORMS AND OTHER WORMS ARE EATEN THOUGH:Earthworm soup is popular in China, and in the old days among the Maori tribe in New Zealand, earthworms were reserved for consumption by royalty. At various times in history, the Vietnamese, French, and various tribes in Latin America have eaten earth worms. grubs are on the grill in southern Mexico.
NOW, FOR TAQUILA WORMS:The critter in question is the agave worm, which is actually a butterfly larva. The worms bore into the agave plant's pineapplelike heart, and quite a few get cooked up in the brew used to make mescal(TAQUILA). Far from being grossed out, Jacobo(PERSON WHO PRODUCED IT) concluded that the worm was an essential component of the liquor's flavor and color. In fairness, the worms were also said to have aphrodisiac properties, and worms and bugs are sometimes consumed in Mexico as a delicacy. (Supposedly this dates back to the Aztecs.) At any rate, the ploy worked and the worm in the bottle is now a firmly established tradition. The genuine agave worm is a bright coral color, which fades to pink in the bottle. Some bottlers substitute a species of white worm that lives in the leaves of the agave plant. Connoisseurs complain that the white worm isn't as tasty as the red one.
EATING ANTS:"I eat them straight(NON CHOCOLATE COVERED). Honeypot ants (Myrmecocystus) are the tastiest, but most have a hint of something citruslike."(TAKEN FROM DOUG YANEGA,SCIENTIST) Insects are a daily staple in many corners of the world, no doubt partly out of necessity. But some think "entomophagy" (bug eating) of selected "microlivestock"--you gotta love the terminology--could be the coming thing in developed countries too. I'm told that certain restaurants in D.C. offer stir-fried mealworms and other tempting bug-based treats.
JUNIOR MINTS HAVE A BUGJUICE COATING:"The 'shellac' listed as an ingredient on our Junior Mints box is more commonly recognized as confectioners' glaze. It is refined from the secretion of the lac insect and is free from all metallic and foreign matter contamination. This shellac glaze is guaranteed of food grade quality and is . . . recognized as a safe edible ingredient. . . . The reason that it is used in the manufacture of Junior Mints is that it provides excellent protection against dampness and ensures that the product you buy is of the highest freshness and quality possible."
FRUIT COCKTAIL COLORING AGENT FROM INSECTS:"Due to changes in government regulations, virtually every processor of fruit cocktail is using a non-kosher artificial coloring in the cherries. This coloring is called carmine and is derived from the dried bodies of the cochineal insect." (Actually cochineal is a red dye made from the bug Dactylopius coccus.)
WELL I HOPE I PUT YOU ALL ON A DIET!
